Chocolate oatmeal stout

   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 12/20

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2015 Dark pour with very little head. A sweet chocolate flavor is at the front of the beer but not overpowering and get enjoyable to drink. The tap room fills 32oz growlers for $5, the same price as a pint in the tap room. The peanut and the Chocolate versions of the Shaka stouts are significantly more enjoyable than their original oatmeal stout.

Fairly heavy chocolate. Some roast. Not a lot of body.. A little thin for a stout.

Draft sample. Poured black color with an average fizzy tan head that was mostly lasting and produced excellent lacing. Moderate toasted chocolate malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy chocolate sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Good beer.

Fun beer. Deep brown pour. Chocolate and nougaty candy bar aroma. Taste was pretty much chocolate. Almost milky tasty. Pretty close to cocoa pebbles or count chocula cereal really (maybe the power of suggestion). slightly oversweet and artificial, but still good.

Had this one on tap at Green Room. Pours an opaque black with a thick brown head. Aroma is unmistakably chocolate. Almost like cocoa crispies. Taste is well balanced with a good amount of chocolate. This is one of my favorite beers from green room.

Draft at brewery. Nose is a chocolate bomb with some milky undertones like a candy bar. Can I say WOW? Taste is just as delightful with a touch of silliness in the mouthfeel. Finishes with a slight drying roasty coffee note. Very nice. Only knock is that it seems a bit watery in the mouthfeel.

This chocolate oatmeal stout has 6.2% according to the brewery where this was served. Pours near black but somewhat dead looking, with no lasting head or lacing. Aroma of milk and medium chocolate, the same character found in the flavor. Flavor is much more similar to Samuel Smith’s Chocolate Stout than expected but this is sweeter. Lasting chocolate aftertaste lingers on after the oatmeal stout aspects have faded.

Tallahassee, Fl - on tap at Proof. Pours a jet black with a quickly diminishing off-white head, no lacing. Flavor has some dry roasted notes, a hint of bittersweet chocolate, some day old coffee, just a hint of licorice, but an overall plastic-like flavor to it. Mouthfeel has a decent dryness to it. Not really feeling it on this one.

Draft at proof. Dark black pour with tan head that lasts and laces. Aroma is super chocolaty. Reminds me of oreos. Taste is chocolate and roasted grains, and a lot like oreos. Sweet chocolate up front but finishes dry and grainy, tough combination to make. Good job. I could drink this every night for a week.
