Cask, The Pub, Leicester. Hazy amber with a thin foam. Aromas are light chocolate with some nutty notes - hazelnut coffee syrup. Stewed pear fruitiness with earthy hops. Flavours are biscuit and toffee malts with lots of nuttiness. Some mellow melon with grapefruit pith bitterness on the finish. Decent.

Clear medium amber color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted - caramel, fruity - berry. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, caramel, fruity - berry candy sweet, light hop bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. Cask (gravity dispense) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, day 2 (beer #8) on 1 December 2010. Clear amber. No head. Not much life. OK but nothing much to grab the attention. According to the blurb on the website this is designed to present like a lager whilst being an ale. Just like hundreds of other golden ales then (even if this isn’t actually that gold in colour). I think this outfit may be a bit over-keen on marketing concepts.

Pigs Ear. Clear brown beer. No head. Light dry palate, low carbonation. Semi sweet malt leading to some seamlessly joined up mild orange hop. Finishes dry. Alright.
