Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Very dark brown with a small beige head. Ash and liquorice aroma. Straightforward dusty mid bitter coal fired taste, a bit like a steam railway. Simple and quite agreeable.

Cask Conditioned, at the Oakdale Arms, North London.
Dark headless porter. Sulphurous aroma, unique in that I’ve never had a porter quite as sulphurous as this. Liqurice and mocka notes as well which keep you interested in the Porter side of things. This was the start of the end as pinned I ears on the rating for the last two hours.

Smoky roast malt nose. Classic coffee and licorice notes on the palate. More like a thin stout than a porter, but quite pleasant. Sweetish finish. Cask (gravity), Oakdale Arms, London.
