2.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Wulfstan (509) - USA - MAY 13, 2008
UPDATED: JUN 13, 2008 I had no idea this was an Anheuser-Busch beer when I had it. In the end, it’s not bad and is drinkable but not very interesting, a little thin and alcoholic, and not that good with food. It is copper with a medium, light tan head that steadily shrinks to a thin foamy top and no lace. The aroma is bread crust, hints pf pine and fruit, caramel and citrus- very nice and rather English, it’s the best thing about the beer. The taste is fruity with a little toasty-caramelly grain, earth, citrus, and lingering piney bitterness. However, it becomes a bit more bland after the first few sips, is a little too acloholic. It’s a bit dry and the character kind of gets muddled and vague. With food, it is roughly alcoholic and not very good. If choosing an Anheuser-Busch beer, I’ll stick to Budweiser itself.

Tasted on tap at Grant’s Farm in tumbler. Clear, light golden color with creamy white foam. Nice hops aroma. I did some research, and sure, it’s made by Anheuser Busch. So what? I think it’s great they’re brewing with 100% certified organic barley (which means all-malt, as opposed to most of their beers), 100% certified organic hops (which is an important distinction--many "organic" brewers cheat on this, arguing that hops are an insignificant percentage of the recipe,) and 100% recycled glass, paper, and cardboard for the packaging. Plus it tastes pretty good for a macro light lager as well. I bet AB would have done better to really OWN this concept, marketing it as a Green Budweiser, for instance.

Pours deep amber into a shaker. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Butterscotch aromas. Sweet caramel and bread from front to back. Mild banana and resin finish.

Clear amber pour with a fizzy head. Light malt and hop aroma. Flavor is the same. Not much to say about this.

Bottle. Talk about marketing strategy: quaint picture on the label suggestive of simpler pastoral times, "Green Valley"in the name, and ÜSDA certified" organic blah blah blah. Pours a light amber gold, average head. Sweet grainy aroma, caramel undertones. Flavour is pretty much the same, minimal fruity hop presence. More like an amber ale, and a rather lackluster one at that.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 lawman834 (138) - Georgia, USA - APR 28, 2010
Pours a light copper. The head went away too quickly. The smell is faint. Malt, no hops. Real fruity, almost like apple juice or something. The taste is odd. Super malty to me, and the afore mentioned fruit is there in a big way. There is an OK hop bite on the finish, but it’s nothing to write home about.
Oh well, it’s one more that I have tried, but I won’t pick it up again. I can’t put my finger on it. It’s not that it’s that bad, but I just don’t really like anything about it.
