cazort (413), Newark, Delaware, USA Jan 7, 2008 (Bottle) This was outstandingly flavorful for this type of beer. I find the other (low) reviews outright puzzling; are people prejudiced against this beer because of the association with Anheuser-Busch? Admittedly, this is the first good beer I’ve tried out of them. The hops had a strong aromatic quality, extremely complex...with a light fruity and floral scent evolving into a rich and complex aftertaste. This beer is a little sweet and not terribly bitter, but for this style, it is absolutely outstanding. And the organic factor has to give it a couple bonus points. yesyouam (587), Fairport, New York, USA Jan 4, 2008 Green Valley Brewing Wild Hop Lager is a light amber colored beer with a sand colored head that fades to a dense foam and leaves nice tea-leaf pattern lacing on the glass. The malt seems to be the only thing in the aroma. It smells sweet, simple and boozy. I can’t really find any hops in the aroma. There is a slightly fresh earth tone that I thought was from the yeast, but it’s a lager yeast, so... It is very soft with a light-by-medium body. It leaves the tongue crisply and in an acidic manner, like taking a bit out of an apple. There is slight evidence that hops were used-- mainly in the acidic finish. The flavor is pretty nondescript; perhaps papery, grainy, possibly lemony. No off-flavors, really. Not bad, A-B! This whips the ass of a Bud but isn’t quite into Sam Adams territory. guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Dec 25, 2007 Clear amber appearance with a small off white head and little lacing. Subdued, sweet malt, slightly grainy, aroma. Bready, caramel malt taste, moderatley hopped, followed by more graininess. Gummy, medium bodied mouthfeel with a metallic finish. Swalden28 (1439), McKinney, Texas, USA Dec 21, 2007 This is made by Busch???? Im impressed....Had a very nice hoppy aroma, great hop flavor with nice malt flavor as well. Pours clear straw yellow and somewhat better then thin white head. I actually told people to try this beer... porterhouse (1148), Alna, Maine, USA Dec 14, 2007 (Bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/augusta/lou’s-beverage-barn/4790.htm target=blank>Lou’s Beverage Barn) This is really not bad...Pours clear light yellowish amber with a fairly tall biege head. Surprisingly fairly rich aroma of caramel, vanilla and light citrus and pine. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth but without much texture, lightly prickly. Some spotty, weepy lacing. Flavor is a nice balance of malt and hops - a good dose of caramel, vanilla, egg and bread, even a very light bit of smokiness, along with a lightly piney bitter hit on back end. Seems like a Vienna more than anything and not a bad one at that - it does have a bit of mass-produced "slickness" to it which is probably the worst thing about it. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA Dec 11, 2007 12 oz bottle via Roth’s. Pours a clear amber with a huge head. Nose is grainy and bready. Taste starts and ends sweet and a bit watery. I detect camael/tea flavor likely from a lot of crystal malt, some toasty graininess, and some subtle hops. Body is light, carbonation is moderate. A decent pale lager. switzer (22), USA Dec 6, 2007 Pours a light amber with a barely noticeable hops aroma. No malt flavor, little hops. It’s okay, but tastes like an organic Bud that’s been microbrewed. Dough77 (771), Aurora, Illinois, USA Dec 2, 2007 This one no so much ok. Skunky on the nose, eventually got to be mediocre at best during my drinking of it. Slight corn, slight hop (wild? ok) Not much character to this girl. Drinkable, for sure. Pleasurable....not quite.
