SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Dec 2, 2007 Pours with a huge creamy head of off-white over a light orange body.
Light sweet malt aroma with faint lemony hops.
Corn and vegetable flavor, loads of DMS.
Yuck.
CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Oct 28, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours clear gold. Small white head. Aroma is bready, with only mild hops. No real distinct flavor. Kind of harsh and uneventful. Overall bland and boring. Another fake "micro" from AB. Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Oct 27, 2007 12oz bottle-A medium golden body with a nice white head and an aroma of hops and faint citrus. Taste of malt, caramel, and almost no hop taste. With the hop nose I was expecting some hop in the taste but really nothing. Not a bad beer but I wouldn’t of called it Hop Lager with the only hops in the aroma. Bradrcr (778), Renton, Washington, USA Oct 7, 2007 10/5/07 From the bottle. Aroma is corny pils malt with a faint sweet caramel note and no hop character. Appearance is a clear light gold with a well retained white head. Flavor is a grainy sweet malt forward, fairly round, pretty good for food pairing. Mouthfeel is very crisp with low body and a medium/high carb feel. Overall, better than I expected; not really the organic Budweiser I thought I’d get. It’s low on complexity, but seems well made. bitbucket (2025), Kirkland, Washington, USA Sep 30, 2007 Bottle. Pours clear amber with a substantial frothy white head. Floral hop aroma with just a smidge of citrus. Medium body and light carbonation. Taste starts sweet with some nuts and caramel. Moderately dry/bitter finish. Seems like the ’heavy’ version of their regular brews. Nice to see that they’re building a beer that isn’t designed around maximizing the yield. Nothing bad about this beer, but nothing exceptional either. goldbrew (99), USA Sep 21, 2007 Updated: May 3, 2008Bottle poured into tulip glass. For the style, I must admit it’s an enjoyable beer. After I discovered it’s part of a megabrewery however, I won’t be purchasing again, as I love supporting the smaller guys and there’s so many others to choose from of equal and better quality. But give it a bit of credit, this drink does have a decent, smooth, nice light hop aroma (although I didn’t taste it substantially), and a pleasant clean organic finish. I have noticed a similar smoothness with nearly all organic lagers which is appreciated. 00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Sep 6, 2007 Not too bad. Pours out a nice golden orange color with a decent size white head. Aroma is malty and sort of sweet. Flavor is malty. Thats about all i got from it. I thought maybe it would have some hop to it based purely on the name, but i was worng. morrdt (608), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Sep 4, 2007 12 oz single from Total Wine in Jacksonville. Hmmm. I’m not sure what qualifies this as a premium lager, it wasn’t all that good. In fact, it was well below premium. This makes PBR look like a five star premium brew. Avoid.
