Tap, this could easily be listed under an Abbey Trippel for it shares many common traits... Very rustic deep amber hue with a small head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of candi sugar, Belgian yeast phenols, pungent initial spicy notes, slight golden raisin esters, earthy, minerally, herbal and even some pineapple notes after it warms. The taste is fruity, spicy, yeasty and sugary but not over the top cloy. The alcohol is noticed but acts more as a palate cleanser than a sharp annoyance. The bitterness is a bit more than you find in the genre, a good thing. Low carbonation, oily, lush but not too sticky. This is outstanding, nice to have a fresh example of the style.

Draft sample. Poured clear dark golden color with an average fizzy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate complex dough and yeast aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Solid balanced candy sugar sweet flavor with a medium to heavy complex sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a smooth complex beer

On tap at the Michiana Beer Nuts 3rd Anniversary party. Pours a hazy golden-orange with a small eggshell head that leaves some sticky, soapy lace behind. Nose is citrus and stone fruit, some spice and slight banana, and almost a little vegetation as it warmed. Taste is big on the sweetness with a slight bitterness and some yeasty spice. The palate is fuller, lively, and somewhat creamy. Overall, I was pretty impressed with this one. A nice smooth sipper with a lot of character to it. Good stuff.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy deep gold with a near white head that dissipates completely. Aroma has a strong citrus note with some backing spice and sweet grains. Flavor has notes of citrus with a slight light spice and a backing sweet grains.

Draft at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Murky, pulpy orange to orange-brown body, thin cream head. Fruity nose with additional notes of clove, banana (circus peanuts), and brown sugar. Sweet, vinous body with characteristics of a Tripel, primarily unfermented sugars, alcohol, and white grape in addition to pear, banana, and clove. Prickly finish. Boozy, estery and sweet. An intense, rough beer.

Sampler on tap at the brewpub (Sawyer, MI). Pours a nice glowing darker golden pour, light haze, good glow, frothy offwhite head dies to a film and laces small. Aromas are fairly sweet, apples and pear, very fruity and sugar forward, light spice, bread. Honey equates into it. Initial is medium bodied offering a cidery sweetness, honey and vanilla. A lot of apple. Sweet and big, spiciness comes into play. Almost Cidery. Backend throws some dryness, but stays sweet and spicy overall, a bit yeasty. Finish is ok, mellow sweetness, but overall the beer is too big and cloying for me. Meh. It’s just not my thing.
