2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle, pours a dark brown to black with a large rocky light brown head. Nose is chocolate with some grassy notes. Smells like bakers chocolate and flour. Taste is a gawd awful burnt hop flavor at first. Yup, this is why I donít like Black IPAs. Just a muddled mess of hops, roast, and armpits. The hops and chocolate/roast are not balanced at all and fight each other for which can be most aggressive. and all they do is smother each other and the consumer is left with the bloody mess of the aftermath of a 12 round steel cage fight.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Taster at Standard Market, and Iím finally popping the cap on my first Greenbush beer, too. Oh, yes, Amarillo right up the nose on the first sniff. This would indeed be a beer to inspire anger. Black with some brown highlight, and a persistent stoutlike-head. Taste is hit up hard by catbox Amarillo and Simcoe, which overrides much of the malt profile. Still, I get some spiciness from wheat more than any roastiness. A very light mouthfeel makes up for the rough palate, light carbonation makes it feel almost like there was some nitro involved (which there wasnít). Alcohol starts to kick in after the second ounce, so be careful not to swig this.
