Aroma is very bitter and full of hops. It is dark with a light brown head. Taste is very hoppy with plenty of citrus to compliment the hops. Finish is clean and fresh with lingering bitterness. If you’re not used to black IPAs matching the flavor with the darkness of this beer confuses the senses. The all around complexity of this beer makes it one everyone should try.

Had on tap at Kuma’s Corner. Served in a pint glass. A: Pours a light black color with dark brown edges where the light catches it. A light tan head forms on the pour and dissipates to a thin collar. It leaves some nice soapy webbing behind. S: The nose has some fruity citrus hops with some nice roasted malts and some light bitter chocolate. Pretty standard, but good. T: Wow, the taste is significantly better than the nose. There is a great combination of citrus hop flavors with a nice roasted oat malt body. The bitter chocolate provides a nice base for the citrus and there is also a light coffee bean flavor that plays off the lingering hop flavor. The finish is roasty with a light pine. M: Medium bodied with a nice carbonation. The finish is refreshing with a drying, roasted finish. O: Very solid. Really well done with the green hops lingering in the background while the roasted malts and chocolate flavors were upfront. Nicely done Greenbush. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 06-14-2012

On tap at Blackthorn Pub, Holly,MI...this could easily pass as an Imperial Stout as it is deep black and viscous. But it is balanced with a green leafiness and a delightful funk that was very appealing. My first Greenbush tap...outstanding!

Tap at Trion: Nearly black with a small tan head. Scent is sharp coffee, roast...sharp hops. Taste is nicely hopped, chocolate/coffee. Moderate bitter for 85 IBU...... Very nicely done.

Draft. Pours black with decent head. Te aroma is earthy and good amount of hops. The taste is good. Smooth up front. Has a serious earthy flavor to it. A very interesting black ipa. A real winner. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle to snifter (thanks tmoney99). Looks good; a murky dark Brown with thin beige lacing. Smells and tastes solid; malty and golly. Good on the palate too. Nice.

2012-08-17. Black body with a nice tan head and lace. 4+ Interesting aroma, nice roast and green leafy funk. 7+ Flavour has sort of a dry roasty character, with mild leafy green hops that have a very interesting quality to it that defies my description, vaguely cocoa like but that is not really it. 8+ Smooth average plus to medium palate. 3+ A very solid black IPA. Quite nice. Growler, Campground Brewdown 2012

Had this at the Campground Brewdown. Pours a deep black with a medium to large tanned beige head. Roast and citrus on the nose, chocolate and cocoa. Lots of dark roast with big citrus and soft cocoa. Citrus and roast, chocolate, cocoa, light lemon and citrus. Soft roast, chocolate, cocoa.
