A haughty black ipa with a bit of pent-up attitude for those "special" days. Our addicting little black IPA using Belgian dark malts and dry-hopped for intense aroma. 7.6% ABV and 85 IBUís. Release some bottled-up Anger and learn to enjoy life a little.

First thing I taste is pine. I can?t decide how I feel about that, but i think I like it. Fairly heavy floral hops, smooth toffee, citrus peels and hints of brown sugar as well. Very crisp despite the strong flavors. If nothing else, itís certainly unique and definitely worth the try.

Served on tap in a pint glass. Anger has an onyx color, a gentle reminder that this is a beer that will deliver some intensity. A small ecru head rests on top of the beer, but the small size is more due to the nature of the pour than the beer itself. The aroma is a sharp blend of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, and pine and citrus hops. It is easy to distinguish the aromas, but they work together nicely. My first sip starts off with a bang; fully roasted malt, smoke, dark unsweetened chocolate, and strong black coffee all come through. The flavor at this point is enough to be considered a flavorful beer. But then the hop flavors start playing games with my taste buds. There is a dash of grapefruit and orange citrus, but the main player is a strong spicy, resiny pine note. The hops and coffee work together to bring a bitter finish, although there is not much aftertaste. The thickness of this mouthfeel is right around where I want it to be. At 7.6%, I want something that has some bite to it, and Anger does not disappoint. The carbonation is creamy and smooth. Out of the bottle the carbonation is a little bit out of control, so I like it better on tap. There is a bit of hoppy resin residue left on my lips after each sip. Anger is one of the top American Black Ales out there, no question. This is a great beer that straddles two categories rather nicely. I order this regularly.

Enjoyed from bottle at Pete's Barber Shop at his 2 year anniversary in Chicago IL. Stuff is good. Appearance very dark brown light off white head. Aroma chocolate and acidic hops, good black IPA smell. Taste is pretty exceptional, rich in chocolate, coffee (espresso) and bitter hops. 6 points?

Pitch black, huge foamy tan head leaves lots of lacing. Pine aroma. Roasted malt with long lasting hoppy pine amd bitter finish. Medium body, easy to drink. Enjoyed it. Nice.

12 ounce bottle. Brown-black appearance, low foam but lots of lacing. Grainy and sweet aroma. Malt backbone in the taste, toffee and caramel, roasted dried fruit, hops were blanked out. Medium-to-full bodied. Iím not a big fan of this one. It fired off like an English strong ale, not a black ipa. Potent and assertive abv. The name is appropriate.

Was a bit nervous with the darkness of the pour. Still a bit of a roasted taste for my liking but has a pleasant grapefruit taste as well ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark brown. Smell is full of hops. Taste is very hoppy with citrus with an underlying sweetness. Finishes with lingering bitterness. Very good beer from a young brewery.

This is a dark beer with a big foamy beige head. Some cereal grains, some of them burnt, and citrus hops in the nose. Strong grapefruit juice and pine hop flavors with some roasted grains and burnt toast flavors. There is a wet caramel sweetness. The is a full flavored, sweet hoppy beer.

12oz bottle 6/8/13 (Binnyís Downers Grove Mix a Six)-40į in Shaker-Pours black with a small loose tan head. Aroma of hops, chocolate, and coffee. Taste of the same with more chocolate and coffee. This medium to full bodied brew has a lot darker tastes and is still easily drinkable. Great brew.

My current favorite. Keep trying other Black IPA's, and can't find anything better. Perfect balance of roasted malt to bitter hoppiness. Also 7%+ to just give it that little extra. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
