3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a super dark brown with just a hint of light getting through at the edges. Tons of roasted malt and milk chocolate up front on the nose, toasty, a bit of citrusy hoppiness, and a nice vanilla note. Lots of chocolate and a hint of coffee on the taste, toasted malt, earthy and citrusy bitterness, and some caramel. Quite tasty, but it seems a lot more like a stout than a black IPA.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Though an IPA, the aromas are mostly malt-like - roasted aromas, coconut(!),. Hops provide some grapefruit and general bitterness.
Large, though not too persistent, light brown head. Dark almost black color.
Taste includes a bit of sweetness, a fair amount of bitterness and just a hint of sourness.
Body is moderate to heavy, texture is a bit slick and a bit oily; average carbonation and a long finish thatís sweet, bitter, roasted and citrusy.
Overall I like the diversity of flavors in this beer; not great but nice and interesting.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz Bottle. Appearance is dark brown/black color with medium, beige head--in color, head, and lacing this is a beautiful beer. Aroma is forward with the citrus hops, grapefruit, lemon, pine with a subtle roasty, coffee note in the background. Taste is nice and bitter with the herbally, piney flavors showing. Roasted malt coffee and slight sweet caramel are also present. Palate is medium to full-bodied, creamy texture, and nice and dry in the finish. Great beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
The aroma is a little light at first, then hints of malts - coffee, roasty, a little smokiness then a touch of hoppiness - spruce. Pours a dark brown with a big light brown head, mostly lasting and excellent lacing. The taste is WOW - bitter; I would say smokey and rich and yummy but thatís not allowed (for me anyway). The body is medium to full, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively, the finish bitter and long. Overall WOW - I am a fan of Greenbush now! Very Good!!

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark brownish black pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, some nice pine, grass, some slight orange in there as well, some slight roast. Taste is a mix of caramel, toffee, roast, coffee, hints of orange and grapefruit, finishing slightly sweet, slightly bitter.

Darker black body. Looks kind of like a cola. Big hop aroma with some sweetness. Lots of chocolate taste. Good amount of hop flavor. Mouthfeel similar to coke.

Like the name. This is my second Greenbush, and it has "IPA" on the label, so I will (as a hopeless hop-head, be critical. Looking forward to the 85 IBU. Good pour, a dark, dark brown body with a tall sudsy head that slowly vanishes in chunks, pasting gobs of lace on the glass. Itís got a resinous, zesty aroma, very little of the malt coming through. The flavor starts with the malt, a bit of dark caramel (maybe), but is soon taken over by the sharp citrus, zest and pine tastes and a sturdy, growing bitterness. (Nice.) The hefty ABV doesnít really show itself until itís in the bloodstream. Good ale. Iím not really big on Black IPAs, but this is a repeater for me.
