Pours dark brown almost black with aromas of chocolate and malt. Roasted malts come out very strong in this beer. Palate feel is moist and slightly sweet. Grains are very present in every aspect of this beer as is some coffee. Overall this is very tasty and quite interesting.

Draft at Renoís East, East Lansing. Deep opaque brown body, medium dense coffee & cream head. Nose of roast, milk chocolate, and coffee. Soft, rich body with layered roast, toasty sugars, chocolate, and coffee bean. Good depth and complexity and balance of bitter and sweet elements.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap and many times in a bottle: Deep brown with a small tan head and sticky lace. The aroma has notes of oat, chocolate, caramel, honey nut cereal, herbal and slightly leafy hops with some coffee and aromatics. The taste has a nice roasted character along with some bittersweet chocolate, burned toast and coffee notes. Mild bitterness from the hops and a hint of oatmeal. The mouth feel is smooth yet has an snappy finish, slightly ashy as well. Overall a solid stout without many of the extras often found in Greenbush beers.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce pour at Small Bar in Chicago. Lots of foam at top and a big bodied, creamy texture that makes it seem like an ice cream shake. I liked the smooth chocolate and roasted flavor. It didnít have any smokiness in the taste, making it more of a dessert beverage. Itís a nice, traditional, highly drinkable oatmeal stout without any crazy bells and whistles.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap. Pours deep brown-black with a smaller mocha head. Nose is deep roasted malts, brown sugar, molasses, and some dirt. Taste is really not very sweet with a roasty bitterness and kind of a metallic note. Palate is lighter bodied, soft, with a lingering roasted bitterness. This was ok, but the metallic notes and lack of sweetness threw me off. Iíd say this is more akin to a dry stout, but as an oatmeal, I expected more sweet notes. An ok brew, but not exemplary by any stretch.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the source... Pours an almost black hue, mostly opaque, with deeper reddish tones towards the edges... Semi-sweet chocolate and roast, roast and dark fruit undertones in the aroma. A touch of booze... Flavors are bittersweet with chocolate and roast. Dark fruits more prominent. Medium bodied with lighter cabonation. Ok.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft pour at Jake Melnicks (Chicago, IL). Before the event. Pours a rich dark opaque blackish pour, midnight with a frothy tannish maybe light brown head that dies to a frothy film. Laces ok overall. Aromas match roasted malts and barley, touches of earthy ash, sweet oatmeal, toffee, and faint vanilla. Cocoa and coffee come into play. A touch of cola, earth, a bit light. Initial is fuller bodied offering healthy roast and coffee, cocoa and touches of sweetness. Quite dry up front, roasty with some coal, earth, and ash. Dry and bitter coffee roast. Sweetness touches gently in the middle, a good dose of mocha comes on and coffee in the middle. Gentle oatmeal, roast, and dry bitter coffee and earthy ash into the finish. A bit acrid and dry, roasty overall for something advertised as a sweeter stout but touches of oatmeal and creamy malts touch into the body into the backend. Roasty, bitter with just a light fleeting element. Maybe a touch of dark fruit in the mouthfeel element. Pretty good, bigger, quite roasty/bitter/dry overall for an oatmeal stout. Solid, different. More of a coffee stout.
