Draft. Bready orange malt and orange peel aroma. Hazy amber with moderate head. Sweet orange malt and strongly bitter metallic orange peel flavor. Rough.

Nice beer. Surprised me. I’m not a Wheat Beer fan. I would have not tasted it had I seen the bottle and description, a friend did a blind pour for me and asked me what I thought. Nice, full bodied IPA was my response, maybe a DIPA. Well worth the taste, this deserves a spot in the Beer Fridge.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/30/2014. Pours slightly hazy reddish copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, toffee, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hops and moderate dark malt sweetness; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, caramel, toffee, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, caramel, toffee, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and robustness of juicy citrus/tropical hop and moderate dark malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, sticky, and lightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice wheat IPA. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate dark malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Sampled from a bottle, this IPA poured red-brown ‘copper’ with a touch of haze, and presented a two to three finger off-white head with bubbles that had a yellow tint, the cover receded to a layer and ring, the bottom of the bottle had a layer of medium brown sediment, the nose had fruit, citrus and resin hops with nice toasted malt, there may have been some caramel notes in this drink (it was sort of iffy caramel) but there was malt and brown sugar like sweetness, the flavors were pine and citrus hops with nice toasted malt (that have the darker toasted malt notes that border on caramel) and a little dark bread, grapefruit, it had some malt sweetness but not as sweet as the nose let on to, the finish had a good citrus and pine hop bitterness that lingered on the palate, the mouth feel was on the light side of medium, it was creamy and had light to average carbonation, an ipa that was darker than your typical India pale ale, dark toasted malt that have some caramel like notes, hops were citrus and light fruit, the wheat gave the drink a bit of a citrus kick, a nice drink.

This isn’t a bad bog IPA--and definitely much more of an IPA than a wheat beer. It is a very cloudy amber color w/ a full, fine-bubbled head and lots of lace. This has a decent hop character, veering very much toward pine. The taste is a touch on the sweet side but not too heavy w/ its fine but vigorous carbonation. It finishes w/ a solid bit of resinous bitterness. This is a solid brew but nothing about it is jumping out at me for being particularly stellar.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a burnt copper color with a big off white head. Good retention, good lacing. Aroma of sweet malt and piney hops. Flavor is sweet, somewhat oxidized, with medium bitterness. Full and sluggish on the palate, average carbonation. Finishes sweet. Cloying, disappointing. This is a six pack I wish I didn’t buy.

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2014 Tap: Strange, murky, burnt copper-ish color with a beige head that scatters quickly to a swampy skin. Aroma is packed full of wheat, followed by a somewhat mild hop character... Mostly musty, dry, lightly floral. These "Zythos" hops seem like a weird combo of Noble & C-hops. Lots of malt & wheat in the taste as well; sweet toffee, toasty caramel, & baskets of honeywheat bread. Back-end hops are leafy, floral, & now lightly citric with some white pepper sprinkled grapefruit peel showing up to the party. Low bitterness, offset by the malt when all is said & done. Another Greenbush beer that is decent, but not quite *good* yet.
