2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle @ Crooked Stave ROY-G-BIV Day. Pours a copper orange appearance with an off white head. Somewhat herbal, orange citrusy hoppy, a bit toasty malty aroma. The hops seemed kind of dull in the flavor, so I kind of wonder about the age of the beer. There was some decent citrus notes but I would really like to try this one again fresh.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Think "sweet IPA". Pours a cloudy black iced tea color with a thick pillowy head that leaves thin broken lacing. A big hearty IPA but a sweet, honey taste on the front. Quite tasty!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour out of bottle at ROYGBIV day, hazy orange-yellow pour with white head, aroma brought notes of grass, herbal, and floral notes, slight orange marmalade in there with a hint of toast, caramel, and toffee. Taste was a mix of old orange, grapefruit into herbal, floral and grassy, slightly spicy, toast and caramel finishing fairly bitter. Will rerate with a fresher bottle.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Had on-tap at Boat Works in St. Clair Shores, Michigan for $6.25 a pint.
Iíve been wanting to have this beer for awhile, but most places where Iíve seen it on draft have charged insane prices... $6.25 a pint for a IIPA thatís over 10% is a very fair price. Digging in...
Appearance: A dark amber color. Quite a dark red color... maybe a little darker than I usually expect from even an Imperial IPA. Two finger head sat on top when I got my pint, and it looked awesome. Lacing was sip-for-sip from top to bottom. Nearly a flawless looking beer.
Smell: Sweet. Bursting with a lot of citrus, but thereís a solid earthy note as well. I canít pinpoint exactly what fruit it is, but itís a very inviting citrus and tropical aroma. Iíve smelled better, but this still smells outstanding.
Taste/feel: Yeah, another great beer from Greenbush that Iíd give an "A" rating to. The look of it is glorious, the smell is candle-worthy, the taste follows suit with a sweet start, and then bitter, drying finish, and the mouth feel of Brother Benjamin is awesome... medium/full feel thatís nearly perfect. The alcohol in this is nearly untraceable, making this a delicious, dangerous beer.
I have certainly had some better Imperial IPAs, but few better that have been over 10%. This is nearly a masterpiece of a beer, and any Double IPA fan should seek this out.
