2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: MAR 6, 2014 Bottle: Far too volatile on the pour, one inch of beer and five inches of head... Even with a slow pour! The foam lasts forever, too, & while it leaves good lacing, it takes 15 minutes before I can drink the damn thing. The liquid has a deep amber, cloudy copper body, darker than expected. Aroma of heavy hops; pine, zesty, floral, and lightly soapy. Faint juicy oranges and bready malt backbone. Taste is quite spicy, lots of white pepper, earthy, dirty, herbal hoppage. Brash bitterness and a heavy toasted and caramel malt sweetness that helps balance. Bitter finish, thicker than expected body with lively carbonation. Not as "drinkable" as Iíd like a pale ale to be. Not awful but more of a "miss" than a "hit", thatís for sure.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Orange/rose colored with a big off white head that leaves excellent lacing. Semi cloudy with yeast floating in it. smells very appealing with notes of semi-sweet caramel and floral with hints of fruit and a touch of malt. Right away you get the caramel flavor with some dried fruit. Pretty smooth drinking beer. overall its a very good beer but doesnít quite deliver what I expected. I would drink this beer again but nothing to write home about.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is a nicely balanced and very drinkable pale ale. The focus is mostly on juicy citric hops which are nicely subdued w/ a mild sweetness to soften firm bitterness in the finish. This is not jumping out at me as a particularly magical experience but it is a solid and well done brew all the same.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Very good APA with nice floral hop aroma and flavor. Nothing wildly exciting about it, but just good well made beer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (with no mention of hops, but Iím guessing based on wind currents and rating numbers and such...) Pour is a very slightly hazy copper with a big foamy head and aromas of floral hops and a little bit of caramel. Flavor is soapy and floral with a little bit of sweetness.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at emporium Chicago. Darker orange with white head. Very bitter. Grapefruit notes. Floral and citrus notes. Hoppy

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours with way too much carbonation possible issue at brewery as this is a second style with the same issue. Muddy orange cloudy in color. A very nice but brief aroma of spice and fruit and fresh floral. Heavily hopped and dry. Not an explosion of flavor but light fruit and finishes with a heavy pepper and long. Not drinkable out of the bottle. The wait after the pour is not worth the experience.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
bottle. Deep golden with two finger head. Overcarbonated. The hops are mid-level, but combined with the carbonation, this is just a really harsh pale ale. I recall this being much better on tap.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. No info given on the hops, but based on dates and number of ratings Iím assuming this is the one. Bottle says 5.9%. Pours amber. Very large frothy off white long lasting head. Fruity aroma. Bitter piney flavor with tough of caramel sweetness. Makes me sneeze like an IPA. Dry finish. Lingering bitter mouth feel. Not really a big pale ale fan, but Iíve enjoyed the other Greenbush beers Iíve had so picked this 6 pack up when I saw it. A bit different then some of the other pales Iíve tried. Overall enjoyable.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: Very good looking. A hazy orange color with no visible particles. About a finger or two of creamy head put this beer in my pint glass perfectly. Lacingís quite good.
Smell: Man, I just... canít really describe this one. Definitely a lot of sweetness. Fruity characteristics that I just canít pinpoint. The smell is very solid and inviting though.
Taste/feel: It drinks like most pale ales ... super easy drinking, nothing inoffensive... not super flavorful, but this one is more interesting than a lot of other pale ales Iíve had. Really nothing but a bunch of creaminess on the front of each sip without much flavor, but spicy floral notes come in the aftertaste with a bit of caramel malt. Thereís a tinge of bitterness, but itís mild (only 40 IBUs on this beer). The mouthfeel on this is quite pleasant, but itís almost too thick for a pale ale. Extremely smooth, but almost too much so. Carbonation is good here, though.
Maybe itís just my batch, but this is a damn good pale ale. I donít normally complain about having a beer having a silky mouthfeel, but itís a bit too much on this one. This is a sexy looking pale ale thatís above average for its style in taste and aroma. Since they use different variety hops in every batch, itís doubtful youíll taste the same beer I just did. I expect Closure to be rather inconsistent with its scoring due to this fact. Based on whatever hop variety was in this beer, Closure gets a + rating from me. I just wish I knew what hop was in this particular batch, as itís one that I donít think Iíve had much of, but would like to.

Deep gold pour, white head. Much sweeter than I expected. Apple juice and hops. Meh.
