A stout-ish porter with a touch of porter-ish stout. Accepting the fact that we live in confusing times, Greenbush offers up itís own "ball of confusion," with Distorter - a robust porter blurring the lines between a porter and a stout. Have a bottle or get therapy.

Grain: Maris Otter, Crystal 60L, British Chocolate, Black Malt, Roasted Barley Hops: East Kent Goldings, Willamette, Cascade Yeast: British-style Ale yeast

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark brownish black pour with lacing caramel head, aroma brought brownie, dark chocolate, coffee, hints of slight bitter spicy hops, slight cocoa powder, nice. Taste is a mix of dark cocoa, roast and coffee, some spicy and earthy tones, hints of brownie batter, finishing sweet. I dig this, nice mix of roast and sweetness, and unfortunate ashy flavor comes through at the end however.

Draft at the source. From notes. Absolutely malt dominated. Loads of Roasty coffee, dark chocolate and burnt caramel. Great.

Note" the word "Robust" does not appear on the label, however it does describe the brew as "A stout-ish porter with a touch of porter-ish stout." Okay, I buy that - whatever it means. Itís got a handsome pour, an opaque mahogany body with a creamy light brown head and provides sheets of lace. The aroma has a dark chewy malt, an earthiness, a hint of the floral, and some licorice. The flavor has dark caramel drizzled with bittersweet chocolate, an earthy/woody bitterness, a hint of lactic sourness, and a mild maltose sweetness. This is a tasty brew that bears repeating.

Dark brown color with a tiny tan head. Aroma is a bit lost on me, but thatís nothing new for me - a bit of roastiness. Taste is coffee, roasted grain, a bit of chocolate and just enough bitterness. Iím not a devout fan of porters, but this is really good.

12 oz bottle: Appearance is a deep dark black with a medium tan head. Aroma has a nice malt note, coffee, nutty, caramel notes, and chocolate. Taste is malt forward with some really nice coffee, nutty, and chocolate overtones. Palate is malt forward, medium carbonation, with an aftertaste of chocolate and coffee. Overall, Nice stuff. I would buy it again. Cheers!

A respectable porter from Michigan was good enough to finish but not so excellent that I will seek out Greenbush again. With so many other options in the Great Lakes region I would rather go for breweries that are either new or known to produce great products.

Aroma / Appearance - A heady fast growing beer was a bit too aggressive. Finally I was left with a glass two-thirds full of mocha head and the rest black inky liquid. Coffee, dark chocolate, truffles, and rich roasted textures calm the nerves.

Flavor / Palate - Malty and roasted, this beer emphasizes local coffee flavors that blur the lines between porter and stout. Dry toast, ash, and black coffee transition to a woody finish. The lingering finish becomes a bit one dimensional over time. Overall though this is an interchangeable release that is an average baseline.

pours black with a rich brown head that lingers pretty wel and clings to the glass. This one has a pretty intense nasal explosion of citrus, floral, some piney character, black dark roast, chocolates, coffee, toasty and biscuity malts. Flavor is similar with intense black roasty malt some citrus, fruits, pines, toast, bitter character, roasty and acrid but not offensive. Pretty solid.
