3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (12 oz). Extra from Alefish, thanks! Dark brown with a small beige head and little lacing. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, ashes and light fruity notes. Taste is moderately sweet and almost the same as the aroma. Medium body. A tad too watery. Moderate carbonation. Fair Porter, but nothing worth seeking. Ok balance. Not really complex. A tad watery.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
355 ml bottle shared with Tom and chums. Pours a reddish-orangeish black with a short lived beige head. Aroma is roast, chocolate, dark fruits. Flavor is ash, vanilla, dark chocolate, dish cleaning water (post doing-the-dishes). Ashy finish. Light to medium body, weak carbonation. Not so good.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Very dark brown, thick, roasted & coffee flavors. Smooth and thick, reminiscent of a stout with the hoppiness of a porter. Very good, and a little different.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a dark black color with a nice java head. Nose is roasty, chocolate and coffee with some subtle hops. Taste is full of flavor, deep coffee and chocolate flavors, quite drinkable and a palate pleaser. Finishes nicely on the same flavor notes , with a mid lingering. Another great Michigan microbrew. Quaff Score 8 / 10

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very solid beer, it has the burnt toasty/coffee flavors that are found in both porters and stouts so I guess that’s how it "confuses" you. Either way it’s a good porter or a good stout, or just a good beer if you want to keep it simple.

On tap at The French Laundry in Fenton, Michigan. Pours dark brown with a light brown head and a chocolate and treacle aroma. There is a full-bodied dark molasses flavor with a dry coffee finish that sticks to the palate.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Great roasted aroma with hint of coffee. Deep black with fairly light head. Taste uber roasted....like that is what they were highlighting no doubt. It clings to the back of your tongue when the hops shine through after the blast of roastiness. Overall this beer yet again pleases as every Greenbush brew has for me. Hefty and solid at 7.2 abv
