Draft at Rezervoir Lounge - pours a solid dark brown with off white head . Big sweet malty aroma . Taste like a big robust brown , which it is , didn't get any maple sap though . Not bad . Alcohol is well hidden . ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark brown with a foamy tan head. Aroma is maple, chocolate, caramel, and harsh booze. Flavor is sweet maple, caramel, and chocolate. Goes down smooth. I was very impressed with this.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 3/26/2015. Pours hazy nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big maple, molasses, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, dark bread, raisin, plum, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper/pine, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, maple, earthy hops, and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big maple, molasses, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, dark bread, raisin, plum, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper/pine, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Fair amount of pine/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of maple, molasses, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, dark bread, raisin, plum, light nuttiness, light pepper, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, maple, earthy hops, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice imperial brown ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, maple, earthy hops, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is of maple, malt, sugar, and hops. Taste is big on sugary maple syrup up front. Has a nice malt backbone, and a lot of grass to it. Way lighter than I had anticipated, and it goes down easy. The alcohol is definitely present. Surprisingly good.

Pure black pour with a few inches of beige head. Bright cottony citrus, lemon and lime with lots of zest, rich maple too. Soft carbonation, tingly oily mouthfeel, clean finish. Flavor has some bitter earthy like hops, roasted woodsy malts, effervescent alcohol, kind of rooty. Nice amount of bitter and depth but unfortunately no maple flavor.

pours black with a nice tan head. Aroma is nutty, light smoke, vanilla, and not getting much maple here. Flavor definitely improves as it warms. Nutty and smokey with faint hints of maple, cocoa and vanilla. Body is a bit thin, oily texture. lasting bitter finish. Lacking

UPDATED: APR 6, 2015 Bottle: Chestnut brown pour, more ruby to it once it’s in the glass. Foamy, khaki-colored head forms nicely on top. Sweet aroma with lots of caramel & Munch malts, a hint of Dutch chocolate, barley sugar, light nuts, only a small hint of maple floating around in there. Comes off slightly "artificial", I guess? Hard to describe. Flavor is more dry than expected. Tastes like shaved, toasted almonds, dried cacao dust, light tree bark, faint toffee, toast... Again, not much maple at all. Maybe a very small essence. Some nutty bitterness in the finish. Seems a bit salty, too? Wonder why? All-in-all, not a bad brew, but a very strange one. Wasn’t really what I expected at all.

Tap. Black pour. Beige head. Boozy nose. Light coffee and roasted malt. Mild buttered toast. Dark fruit. Taste follows the same template. A little bit of tobacco roughness. Finishes with a pleasant chalky bitterness. Ok.
