Tap: Pours deep brown nearly opaque with a small but lasting frothy tan head and good lace. The aroma as notes of freshly ground coffee, earthy esters of tobacco and leather, moderate roast, char, and bready malts along with some resiny and herbal hops, hint of pepper and clove. The taste is a wonderful blend of coffee and hop bitterness balanced by sweet malts and an overall earthy component. The finish was slightly ashy, smoky, spicy and even minty. The mouth feel is a bit slick and oily (likely from the coffee) and medium-bodied creamy... still I would have liked to see a little more body to this. Overall a very successful small batch that I would love to see brewed once again in larger quanities. Bravo!
