A Winter White Ale because what else is Winter? The cold sets in and hangs for months it seems. Everything slows down. Time warps… and you’re covered with a wash of white. Thought I meant winter, didn’t you? Jadis will take you away from winter, even if temporarily.

On tap, pours a hazy orange. Not much in the way of aroma. Unlike most winter whites this is heavy on spice. Some citrus as well. Goes down easy, pretty impressed.

bottle - Pours very hazy yellow with a huge head that required me to pour the beer in stages. There’s a yeasty, spicy aroma. The flavor is sweet and spicy with clove readily apparent. Fruit notes are minimal. There’s some light bitterness in the finish. Given the high ratings for the style, maybe I got an old bottle or something, but I’m not crazy about this one. Overspiced and underwhelming.

Great beer. I wish I would have had it around Christmas. Nice bold taste. Greenbush never whimps out. Clove and allspice dominates the nose and taste. Will get again.

12oz bottle 5/25/14 (Woodman’s North Aurora Mix A Six)-40° in Tumbler-Pours a murky light amber with a small off white head. Aroma of wheat, malt, cloves, coriander, yeast, and citrus. Taste of the same with a lot of spices. This light bodied brew is not you typical Wit but this beer is well balanced and goes down easy. Nice job.

Light, mild honey orange. Decent head, good ring of lace. Major clove aroma, like a potpourri candle. A leafy aroma with a hint of sugary malts. Gingerbread. This is a very "Christmasy" smelling beer. The taste is supremely spicy: clove, potpourri, gingerbread candles. The sweet, sugary malt is an aftertaste, and compliments the spices nicely. Feels slick and buttery. This is a pretty good, quite spicy beer. I’m thinking it might have softened up a bit since the winter.

355ml bottle. Literally take a pumpkin beer and remove the pupmkin, huge nutmeg and cardamom, some banana.

Pours an orange/brown with a very foamy white head. Aroma has an intense dose of spices, what I thought to be ginger, as well as a dose of nutmeg and cloves. Taste is similar, though with less intensity, nicely balanced by a small dose of bitterness. This is much better than Greenbush’s Unicorn Killer, which overdoes it on the spices. I really enjoyed this one.

From notes. 12 oz bottle shared during a sharing of the Advent Calendar (not finished) on March 15. The pour is a coppery gold, with a thin white head and no lacing. there is a great spiciness to the aroma, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, some good clove notes. The flavor is definitely similar, with good complexity with the spices and a light fruity note. There is a light hop presence on the back end. The mouth feel is a little thin, but decently creamy with a good carbonation and lightly dry, spicy aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours cloudy honey. Medium sized white head. Big aroma of nutmeg, cloves, and other spices. Flavor is also full of Christmas spices, but I’m getting some bitterness from this bottle (unexpected and not noted in the other ratings I read). Lots of spices in the mouthfeel, but again a lot of bitter. Nice winter brew. I get excited whenever I see a new offering from Greenbush because they are putting out some nice beers.

From the March 2014 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a golden amber color with a medium sized foamy white head that faded and left no lacing. The aroma was clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and sugar. The flavor was dry and had a biting spiciness of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, bread and more clove. Long finish of bread, nutmeg and clove. Medium body. Ok.

bottle. Amber with small head. If you could make a beer out of gingerbread cookies, it would taste like this. Lightly sweet with spice, mainly ginger, but slight cinnamon as well.
