3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 jrallen34 (3445) - Chicago, USA - FEB 4, 2012
Draft at oe... Dark mahogany, a bit dirty, creamy tan head, good retention... The aroma is a bit plain, clove, caramelized sugar, bit of spice on the finish... The taste as first is really nice at first, fresh banana, dark fruit and caramel, but as you drink it becomes cloying and hot, way too much alcohol gives me a burn... above average but I wouldn’t seek out

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BBB63 (5028) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - MAY 25, 2012
Tap and in bottles numerous times: Hazy deep amber with a frothy head and spotty lace. The aroma acts the part... banana creme pie, clove, wheat bread, bubblegum, hint of milk chocolate and caramel with a light handed herbal and spicy hop ester. The taste has a nice balance between weizen and bock where neither dominates the other. Spicy, fruity, roasty, bready, and slightly roasty... is a touch tannic however which leads to my biggest critic of this beer. The mouth feel is clean, too clean and dry for the genre IMO. I do like this a lot, just wished it had more depth of mouth feel.

Bottle in Hotel Room - Special Thanks to Derek. Cloudy dark red/brown - offwhite head. Wheaty, ryebread, light caramel, citrus, some dark sugar, light fruity, yeasty, light banana notes.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pawola22 (2207) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 28, 2012
On tap at Revolution. Pours a deeper amber-brown colored body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, light brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel and banana up front with some cocoa, a moderate clove spice, light wheats, a touch of bread, and more of a yeasty pepper spice as this warms. Flavor is richer caramels with some bready toast, banana, and cocoa up front. Some clove and yeasty spicing comes on nicely in the middle with some wheat and a few dark fruits. Cocoa picks it up at the end a bit as well as the spicing before this finishes dry, but balanced with a nice sweetness and a light bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-full body and a soft, creamy, moderate carbonation. Overall, a nice winter weizenbock. Smooth caramels, slight toast, light wheats, and a nice cocoa balance well with a pleasant yeasty spice and banana. I liked this one.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 pantanap (2838) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 28, 2012
On tap at the source... Pours a mostly transparent caramel amber hued elixir, consistent throughout, and topped with a thin wispy creamy just off-white head... Aroma of firm deep rooted sweet malt and banana yeastiness. Again that yeast profile persistently rears its head... Sweet banana yeastiness. Dark fruits and caramel. Boozy with a medium body and semi-lively carbonation.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 drdisque (286) - Illinois, USA - JAN 26, 2012
On tap at Bangers & Lace Chicago. Pours deep brown. Flavor is dominated by caramel malt. Not much wheatiness comes through. Noticeable alcohol bite but not too harsh. Nice, but too malty and not very complex flavor despite the variety of grains used.

Snifter on tap at Revolution Brewing Co. (Chicago, IL). I continue my journey into Greenbush beers. Pours a richer deeper brownish ruby pour, darker, healthy haze and murk. Some lighter edges, but not by much. A frothy light brown tannish head sits a top, moderate sized, sticks around in a ring, laces ok overall. Aromas are mellow, growing a touch more as it warms. Flaked wheat, caramel and biscuits, touches of banana and spice, some mellow slick sweetness, faint vanilla, touch of cocoa and toast. A fruitiness grows as it warms. Mellow though, overall. Initial is a more rich experience, offering dry flaked wheat and toast up front, some gentle fruit, smooth and lightly sticky malts. Middle moves into banana and spice, gentle brown sugar, touches of yeast, faint cocoa, and caramel, toffee, biscuits. Touches of yeastiness linger on, remaining slick on the palate. A firm medium bodied never overruns, as the backend gets a touch sweet, lingering esters, and a strike of caramel. Lingering fruit and spice, a faint dryness but sweetness lingering are the enjoyable qualities. Quality Winter themed Weizenbock, withj just a heat way farther in, very gentle that more compliments the experience overall. The nose was a bit weak but the actual flavors and mouthfeel, experience on the palate was quite pleasant. Nice one that seems like it could be a silent assassin. Touches of cocoa become a bit more firm as it warms more. Good job, guys.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Travlr (5399) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - JAN 17, 2012
After my amazing experience at the brewpub yesterdat, I was thrilled to see this one on tap at Revolution in Chicago. It poired hazy amber with a beige head and solid lacing. Aroma was spiced and boozy buttersotch. Taste was pumpernickel bread, moderate spice, caramel, bitter finish. Cut back very slightly on the booziness and you have a classic of the style.
