[Tap] Nearly black in color with about an inch of light brown head on top. Roasted nuts, chocolate and roasted malts in the aroma. Flavor is mainly centered on coffee, milk chocolate, vanilla and some ash. Rather creamy. Mildly bitter finish, but mostly on the sweet side. Tasting notes from 9/2014.

Poured into a Tripel Karmeliet tulip glass, this beer had a dark brown pour and it gave a half finger light tan and tan colored cover that receded quickly to a ring and a few small islands of bubbles, it left some spots of lacing on the sides of the glass, the aromas were dry dark chocolate, chocolate, roasted malt and coffee, it had a little sweetness, it had nice flavors of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee that blended well, and had some sweetness, the finish had roasted malt and coffee bitterness that lingered a bit on the tongue with roasted malt coffee afterwards, the mouth feel was light medium, it was creamy and had average carbonation, it had a nice mix of chocolate, roasted malt and coffee, not as sweet as I would expect but there was a good amount of bitterness to balance the sweetness, a good drink.

Quality roasted coffee and sweet cream dominate this one. Other notes of dark chocolate, charred grains, cereal and burnt sugar. Hints of dark fruits. Slightly smoky and roasted finish.

Pours black with a medium, smooth looking tan head. The aroma is big on roasted malts and coffee. These are complimented by cocoa, chocolate, and vanilla. As far as the taste is concerned, I donít find this very sweet for something advertised as a sweet stout. It remains very roasted, with strong impressions of coffee, and some lesser vanilla. I find some chocolate and caramel as well. There is a heavy, although somewhat short aftertaste of roasted coffee. This is full bodied and thick in texture, while having softer carbonation. Good stuff all around. A very worthy stout.
