not so obviously a stout; iíd call it more of a porter at first glance and smell. a very dark ruby with rather simplistic aroma of roasted coffee bean and sugar. fairly acidic and not overly sweet but not quite brash. surprisingly bitter finish which seems to be a combination of high alpha hops and burnt coffee. certainly not a bad beer but seems to be a poor impersonation of certain other stouts from the state of michigan.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, thick black pour with off white/tan head, aroma brought notes of coffee, green espresso, some cocoa, roast, hints of caramel, toffee, hints of earthy tones. Taste is a mix of coffee, cocoa, roast, hints of caramel, lots of roasted malt, finishing slightly sweet, slightly bitter.

Pours opaque black into a snifter with light brown thick head. Nose is burnt coffee and chocolate with vanilla, some herbal aromas that I canít quite put a finger on. Initial sweet start with a slightly burnt bitter finish, slightly oily, long coffee finish. Interesting beer, coffee is definitely at the forefront.

Mr. Hyde pours jet black with a pretty nice tan brown head that lasts a good while. The aroma is roasted coffee and milk. The flavor is roasted coffee, milk and a hint of raspberry or cherry. Overall this is a very nice brew.

From notes. 12 oz bottle shared during a sharing of the Advent Calendar (conclusion!) on March 30. The pour is dark, dark brown with a HUMONGOUS tan head. This is the most head Iíve seen on a stout in a long time. It just explodes up. There is a decent lace on it as well. The aroma is really light. There are big malt and coffee notes. The creaminess is a little hidden in the background, but itís not bad.The flavor is also quite thin, but follows the aroma. The coffee is somewhat dominant with a good roastiness and perhaps some light chocolate. The mouth feel is really thin and slick with an excessive amount of carbonation, The aftertaste is a little dry, coffee forward, but not bad.

Bottle... Pours murky and black with a large, fluffy, beige head that sticks around until my glass is empty. The olfactory highlights are caramel and a mocha-like blend of espresso and fudge. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and prickly carbonation. The flavor is a bittersweet jumble of caramel, milk chocolate, burnt espresso and bitter, ashy charcoal. Finishes sweet, and then almost painfully bitter. I like it, but Iíd like it more if the flavors melded and the bitterness mellowed. Maybe with time. Bottle courtesy of FlandersNed!

On tap. Pour is close to black with some red highlights and a small beige head. Aroma is very coffee-forward with notes of roast, cocoa and chocolate. Flavor is also heavy on the coffee but the milk cream and cocoa shine through more. No alcohol present.

Creamy. Very creamy. Draft at DryHop. Brownish pour with a ton of foamy head. Slight spice to it. But a very creamy milk stout. Good shit
