3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Eyedrinkale (3214) - Astoria, USA - SEP 24, 2011
Not knowing the style when I pour, it looks like a brown ale with a tiny head. Closer nasal inspection reveals a light, spicy Belgian aroma. Wait, its not an abbey dubbel maybe just a Belgian Strong. Similar in flavor to 3 of the othe GB beers today though. Definately an alcohol burn with a toffee and chocloate flavor. Lasting, long finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20 574deadzone (263) - North Central, Indiana, USA - MAR 8, 2012
On tap. Pours a darker amber to brown with no head at all. Nose is sweet caramel and molasses, with some brown sugar and spice with slight clove. Taste is pretty sweet with a touch of tart and a low, low bitterness. Palate features some alcohol heat, thin and not heavy at all for the abv. Overall, I liked this one. It has almost a dessert-like sweetness, but the palate wasn’t very strong considering how big the beer is. Still, a nice one that I would definitely try again.

Bottle. Pours a near clear brown with a brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of bread with a bit of backing chocolate and a hint of raisin. Flavor has a good amount of raisin with some light spice with a bit of chocolate and breads backing.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 pantanap (2838) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 28, 2012
Sampled at the source... Pours a less than cola like pour, somewhat transparent and topped with a quickly dissipating head leaving virtually nothing... Dark fruit, cocoa with a little chocolate. Some banana and that same yeasty profile consistent with most of their beer actually... Sweet toffee and lighter cocoa with more of that similar yeast influence. Mostly sweet, honey-like through the middle with a modicum of distant earthy bitterness on the backend. Just bigger than medium bodied with light to medium carbonation.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheAlum (3299) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - OCT 25, 2011
6 oz pour on tap at the brewpub (Sawyer, MI). Pours a rich brownish dark hue, a good haze, with darker copper glowing edges, brownish with a decent frothy tannish head, dies to a film, laces ok though. Aromas are fruity and biscuity, offering some toast and caramel, gentle pear, apple, cocoa. Faint waft of dark fruit, mellow spice, soap, more spicy Belgian yeast. Touches of candi sugar. Initial is fuller bodied offering a potent sweetness and toast up front, some cocoa and a good healthy dose of plum and dark fruit. A touch of dark black cherry, some spice, caramel and toffee. Mellow bread, toast, biscuits. Middle and back start to show more budding red and dark fruit, plums and toffee, caramel, and a touch of dry toast, spice, some vanilla, and brown sugar. Finish is dried a bit, mellow sweetness. I actually enjoyed this morn than expected. Nice.
