3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle poured a dark orange color with aromas of spice, clove, wheat, yeast, and some banana. Flavors are the same, a nice wheat followed with some clove and banana aftertaste, a very nice hefe in my book. And this was an awesome extra.

Draft sampled at a tasting event. From notes. Yeasty with wheat and funk. Not too shabby.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a weizen glass. Pours muddy light brown with huge fluffy beige. Aroma is banana, medium body, medium/low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is ripe banana, vanilla, black pepper, yeasty, and astringent. Hard to drink.

2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 5/20
Draft sample. Poured hazy copper color with an average white fizzy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate citrus, yeast and clove aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable brew that met my expectations.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a hazy, burnt orangey hue, massive (not an exaggeration) rocky white head that took more time than I had anticipated to pour the whole thing into the glass -- not a beer for the íhurriedí. Nose is spicy -- lotsa yeastiness, cloves, white pepper and hint of banana. Mouth is medium-full bodied, pineapple and banana up front, then cloves and a wave of spicy yeast mingling with bitterness, then it mellows out into bread and citrusy finish. Really nice hefeweizen -- even if i did take a long ass time to pour. .

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle. Opens a little enthusiastically, pours with a suspect infected mega head..makes Rayon Vert seem fun. Wheats are a pretty forgiving style, and if it is infection, it hasnít completely killed it. Not really pourable/drinkable with the massive foamy head...moving on. Has a real effervescent, quality mouthfeel...making me curious to try other Greenbush beers. Nice clove. almost lemony bite..doesnít have much banana. Kind of harsh mineral tones. Infected...yet promising.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a very cloudy dark honey color. Huge white frothy head. So big that it took a couple minutes to get a complete pour. Classic heffe aroma of bananas and cloves. Flavor is more of the same with a yeasty finish. This is a pretty nice heffe. Another nice beer from this brewery.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Super hazy golden coloured body with a bright copper glow and a ridiculously nice, three centimetre tall tan head - this is perfect for the style. Aroma of wheat, coriander seed, curacao, light yeast, a touch of corn, some dough and bread and a little sweetness. Medium-bodied; Earthy, bready, yeastie flavour at first with some noticeable pepper kick at first, some light wheat, a little herbs and some hops noticeable, then the coriander seed, wheat and yeast really kick in. Aftertaste shows a good sweetness from full oranges, some bubble gum and bready notes at the back end with a good complexity and a solid, smooth-drinking beer with plenty of refreshing notes. Overall, a well produced beer that blends refreshing and easy-drinking with complex and to-the-style - definitely worth trying if you can find this and one that Iíd be drinking all the time during summer, if I could find it - Iíd have this more than Oberon, for sure. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchantís in Dearborn, Michigan on 02-August-2013 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 15-September-2013.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: No bottling date. A cool looking label of the sun, with that flat paint or matte feeling paper that Greenbush uses. Poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint. The beer itself is definitely unique... Iíve never seen such a dark hefe in my life. This beer is so murky that you canít see through it at all at the top of the glass. At the bottom, itís very hazy. Truthfully, it looks like sewage water, but for a beer, this actually looks great. Head is about two fingers and sticks at about one ... the head is both off-white, and a tan/orange color as well after pouring the "goop" from the bottom of the glass.
Smell: Banana taffy. Normally in hefeís I drink I get that banana/clove aroma. This one has clove without a doubt, but itís at a level I can tolerate (Iíve learned that itís hard for me to stomach much clove in my beer). This essentially does smell like banana taffy, with just a hint of clove. Not much else.
Taste/feel: About 65% banana, 35% clove... the mouthfeel is thick like any other Greenbush beer that Iíve had -- silky and "big." For hefeweizens the only flavors I tend to get are bananas and cloves, and then other little spices. This beer tastes like it smells and should taste like an ordinary hefeweizen to me, but the ratio is what makes this a beer I can easily enjoy. Iím not normally a huge hefe guy, but I enjoy this. The feel, like I said, is heavy ... in most hefes Iíve had from memory, theyíve been relatively thin. This thickness almost makes this beer drink like a smoothie or something.
Solid beer. I wouldnít often seek this beer out given that Iím not big on the style, but this is actually very likely my favorite hefeweizen. The look of it, the feel of it, the emphasis on banana rather than clove/spices/yeasty flavors... this is quite good.
