A hot way to cool down Hot. Drenched. Delightfully blinding. Right. We’re not talking about that ball of fire in the sky, but our refreshing hefewiezen. Skip the shade and down a glass or two and be cool.

Grain: White wheat, 2 row malt, black malt and flaked wheat Hops: Saaz Yeast: German

Clear amber with a thin white head. Flavor has some good traditional Hefe, Banana, clove, wheat but some mild citrusy hops are a welcomed note. Good.

Classic cloudy slightly dark gold color. Yeasty aroma with a little bit of spice. Yeast and a bit of clove on the palate. Very slight citrus flavor? Best at a relatively warm temperature. Warmed up to this one as I drank more of the bottle.

Darker hefe. Brown orange pour. Heavy yeast, banana, clove per usual but also pretty strong backbone for a wheat. Spicy finish. Pretty good stuff.

Pours a hazy, orange color with a tall, creamy, long lasting head. Aroma is strong of ripe banana, light clove, some oatmeal like nose to it. Flavor start off with a good dose of banana followed by some light clove and a great bready finish. Body feels creamy from the yeast and has a modest amount of carbonation. Overall a pretty good example of a hefe as all the flavors are very nicely balanced.

[Bottle] Murky amber colored pour is darker than I expected. A thick and lasting cap of foam on top. Nose is of light bubblegum, clove, banana and sweet wheat malts. The flavor follows the aroma pretty closely. More spice comes out in the taste, with clove and nutmeg also making an appearance. Good body for the style, but I would have liked more fruit esters in the taste.

bottle - A huge head on this beer necessitating pouring in stages while it slowly dissipated. It has an aroma of banana, spice, and wheat. The flavor is mildly bitter, yeasty, spicy, and finishes dry. Good hefe.

Colorwise, this is kind of on the border between a hefeweizen and a dunkelweizen. It is brown orange but not quite brown, rather muddy in appearance w/ a soapy head of large bubbles. This has a nice, fresh banana nose w/ maybe a tiny hint of buttered popcorn in the background. This has a nice, creamy, highly carbonated texture which is great for the style but the earthy bitterness is just a bit too strong and somewhat muddles the yeasty banana notes. This is more of a balance issue than a serious flavor flaw though and this does hit the spot for a hefeweizen reasonably well overall.

I’m not a big fan of the style, though the Hefeweizen in Germany are pretty good. Pured from a bottle into the traditional glass, cloudy reddish yellow with enough head to interupt the pour three times. Kind of bland, not thirst quenching.

Rated on 3-25-2014 (Bottle purchased at Belmont Beverage Time Corners-Fort Wayne, IN) This beer pours a huge foamy off-white head with a long retention, hazy golden body, fast rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aromas are malt, wheat, bananas, spicy, clove, and sweet. The taste is semi-sweet, hint of bitterness, wheat, bananas, malt, clove, and spicy. The mouthfeel is lively and this beer is medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable and the flavors come together nicely. This is not the best beer of this style, but it did meet my expectations and a beer I would drink again.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a extremely large sized head of all foam very bright white colored bubbles that were and left behind a hazy golden orange brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The mild aroma was floral yeasty and musty. The bubbly mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The bubbly flavor contained notes of yeast floral breads hops and malt. Not one that I would likely buy again.
