Pleasant aroma, taste and palate, but I’m not thrilled. [short review due to it coming from my backlog]

Draught. I like a pint of this is the fall. Good beer if your only grabbing a couple down at the pub.

A dark copper brown, pours with a good head. Strong hoppy smell and taste, not particulary complex.

Cask @ The Willow Walk. Medium amber pour with a small off-white head. Not unattractive. The nose is a bit of berry, twig, caramel, and that strange house aroma that GK beers seems to have. The taste is mild sweet malts, brown bread, a splash of red apple. Weird fart-like taste. Medium body. Overall, acceptable, but nothing to be excited about. Meh.

Ale bevuta all’aeroporto di Gatwick, Londra. Poca schiuma, amaro poco deciso e odori nulli. Molto beverina ma nulla di che.

Abbot ale on tap at the Albanach, Edinburgh. Clear reddish gold ale with a thin light head. Aroma of mild hoppy notes, a mild bitter taste with some fruity notes. Pleasant, if unchallenging drinking.

BlackHaddock (2367) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - SEP 24, 2012
21st September 2012 and a hand-pulled pint of this beer was poured for me in the excellent ‘White Hart’ in Shifnal, Shropshire. Can’t believe I’ve not reviewed the cask version before: I’m putting that right at last. The glass was full of a clear amber/copper coloured body with an off-white head of foam which hung around and left some heavy lacing as the beer level fell away. The nose was of semi-sweet malty molasses with fruitiness from the hops: the taste wasn’t far away from that either. This is a pleasant, good quality bitter and although I’m not a huge Greene King fan you can’t knock this brew. I’m sure it had more flavour years ago, but my memory is fading, so it might not have changed at all?

Cask at the William Webb Ellis (JDW), Twickenham - 15/09/12. Clear copper in colour with a thin white head. Malt, grain, barley and a light dose of caramel on the nose. Taste follows - a little more toffee evident. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Rated this now - no need to revisit!
