UPDATED: JAN 7, 2016 Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A clear amber colour with a medium white head. Aroma of caramel, soft toffee, biscuit, subtle grass and fruit. Taste of caramel, biscuit, fruit, subtle grass and slight earthy hops. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A biscuity bitterness in the finish. Recognisable Greene King characteristics but one of my favourites from the brewery.

Pre-RB - Cask at JDW Cardiff - Central Bar. Hazy dark orange, small scummy white head. Body medium, smooth. Taste - sweet caramel, overtaken by harsh ashy bitterness. Unbalanced. (2.6)

Apr 2015 - Cask at Railway Putney. In a plastic cup due to football hooliganism. Hazy dark amber orange, still, very big foamy beige head, thick lacing. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is ashy, burnt toffee, strong noble hop metallics, medium bitterness. Good condition. My tastes have changed to compensate for this. It’s not for beginners! (3.3)

Cask at the Standing Order. Pours clear copper-brown, nose is light toffee, nutty, taste is pretty much the same.

On cask at The Dandelion, Philadelphia. Nice, ordinary bitter. Somehow we’ve got to get America to embrace this style - we’ve gone just about as far as we can with hoppy, with sour, with high-gravity stouts, and we’re seeing a focus on session IPAs. Why not learn to love casked ESBs? Encourage brewers to really brew the heck out of these, take them to a new height.

Last time I drank this is was pretty poor. Seemed like they were literally scraping the bottom of the barrel. Decided to give it a second chance and it really is a pretty decent bitter. There’s a slight sharpness in the finish which spoils it slightly but overall a well balanced, easy to drink ale.

Cask to glass. Golden copper hue with creamy off white head that settled. Aroma is caramel, grain, cereal, noble hops. Mouthfeel is great with a medium body and soft carbonation. Taste is sweet with a light hop bitterness following. This is a nice brew.

From the ticks: Used to love it. During recent years was not able to get it on tap. A good bitter as it should be. Easy drinking.

Aromat słodowy, lekko żywiczny, owocowy, troszkę mokry karton. Kolor bursztynowy, piana bardzo ładna, obfita, pięknie zdobi szkło, piwo klarowne. W smaku leciutka goryczka, troszkę owoców i tyle... Piwo gładkie, aksamitne, nisko wysycone, niesamowicie pijalne, pomimo niskiej goryczki - zalega. Ogólnie super pijalne piwo, super wyglądające piwo, bez smaku i bez aromatu ;D
