Cask from the Kinder Lodge, Hayfield, Derbyshire. Pours mid-amber. Sweet, buttery (diacetyl?) beer with some fruits, caramel and lots of sugary aroma and taste. I can see why it’s stood the test of time but for me it is drinkable but nothing more than mediocre.

Draft - medium amber with 1/2" creamy white head. Small hoppy aroma. Ok in mouth and on tongue. Smooth tasting with good bitter finish. Enjoyed.

Rich malty aroma of bread, caramel, toffee, excellent example of British malts. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with thick creamy yellowish white head that lasts. Bready malty flavor with light caramel and lots of earthy, woody, hop character. Medium bodied, with medium co2, soft and smooth, lingering earthy woody finish. Very enjoyable English bitter. Very well balanced. I'm not a huge fan of Fuggles. Enjoy Goldings better. I could drink a few of these. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask. Malt and dried fruit. Brown to copper in colour with thin top. There was a time when this was special because so little else was even passable. There was a time when its smooth blending and balancing of hops and malts was enough. I still find more to savour here than in some over-hopped craft ale. It will keep its pace. But it’s also a marker of all that has changed. Pre-revolutionary. Vive la revolution!
