2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear amber body a nicely lasting small white head. Nose has rapeseed, some herbs and a touch of malts. Taste is mildly bitter with a very short finish. Carbonstion is mild and the palate somewhat watery. This is decent but nothing special.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: OCT 4, 2013 From the can. Thick head, lighter than I expected. Bitter aroma. Fruity flavor his you the moment you drink, though the type of fruit is a bit muddled. Not as bitter tasting as the smell would lead you to believe.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thin but distantly bitter bread, very good anyway. Could be more thick and foamy, since it distantly even resembles belgian monk beers, but isnít too sugary like those might be. The bottle and appearance are not very attractive, it looks like ginger ale.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Years ago, I was on an evening college course with my pal Mal, and we used to finish at 9.00, dash out to the nearest pub to join the quiz, and sink a few pints of Abbot. It was always well kept, and we rated it as a premier local real ale experience at the time. I mention this because itís easy in these days of wider choice to disparage the likes of Greene King, and forget how hard it was to find a pint of real ale in the ocean of Scotch, Ex, Lager and Broon that dominated the North East back then: you youngíuns donít know youíre born. Nowadays, I would describe this as an above average macro-real ale, with a sweet malty flavour, notes of white wine soft carbonation, and a mildly astrigent medicinal finish that Iím not embarrased to enjoy.

Bottled. On the premise that everything is worth trying once we picked this up (2011). Pours a clear copper color with a small white head. The aroma has caramel, butterscotch notes hints of fruit and floral hops. The flavor is caramel, toasted bread, light fruit, butterscotch and a faint hoppy finish. Maybe I should amend the first statement to say everything is worth trying once if you donít have to pay for it.
