"Abbot Ale is the culmination of knowledge and skills that have developed over centuries of experience. Brewed longer to a unique recipe using pale, amber and crystal malts, making it a full flavoured, smooth and mature beer. This irresistible ale has masses of fruit characters, a malty richness and superb hop balance."

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2016 500ml can. Aroma is slightly sweet, nutty, not bitter. Medium to dark clear amber color with a thin white head that disappears quickly. Taste is sweet malt, slightly nutty, maybe a little cooked corn? Typical "British ale" flavor. Thin body. Overall, a pretty typical British beer. I still liked it. Nostalgic.

The beer opens up with an overwhelming caramel character and a very light floral hop character. Slight toasty notes come in underneath and a touch nutty to round it out. Crystal clear as it poured into the glass in a copper tone and a full, well formed, beige head that slowly dissipates but has a decent retention. A moderate bitterness cuts the sweet caramelly sensation that comes across the palate. The toasty bread notes that came across in the nose cross over into the flavor. Grassy hop character come through moderately high and last deep into the finish. A moderately dry finish and a clean fermentation. No discernible esters, diacetyl, or other off flavors. Medium full body, probably helped along by the caramel malt character, soft carbonation, no alcohol warmth or astringency. Overall, I found the aroma to be sickly with how intense the caramel notes came off. The grassy-ness in the flavor stood out a bit much and there wasn’t much complexity to it. A moderate bitterness was one of the best qualities and the toasty notes cut the caramel in the flavor. A very easy drinker that would work well with simple meals such as salads, with an oily dressing or a vinaigrette. Something acidic to cut through the beer, such as an addition of lemon or lime to a favorite meal. Sounds generic, but fish and chips would probably work with this. I would avoid very bold flavored foods as they would completely overpower this beer.

500 ml can. Pours a clear amber with a large cascading off-white head though it settles quite quickly. Aromas are dominated by the caramel sweetness of the crystal malts. Tastes are very typical of the ESB with definite sweet caramel malts and a some red licorice. Sweetness almost to the point of being cloying. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel with a medium bittersweet finish. This beer might actually be better a little colder.

Kolor bursztynowy, klarowny. Smak: tutaj zdecydowanie du?o wi?cej karmelu mo?e nawet za du?o, ponownie delikatna owocowo?? no i to by by?o na tyle. Goryczka delikatna, mydlana. Wysycenie niskie.

Kolor: Przepiękny bursztyn. Bardzo klarowny.
Piana: Czapowata, biała, solidna. Znika po czasie tworząc cieniutką koronkę. Zapach: Słodowo-chmielowy. Bardzo przyjemny. Słodkie rodzynki i karmel.
Smak: Bogate w smaku. Słodowy, owocowy aromat i solidna długotrwała goryczka. Cudownie zbalansowane.
Prawdopodobnie No 1 w brytyjskich pubach. Praktycznie każdy porządny pub w UK ma go w swojej ofercie. Uwielbiam jego smak i aromat. Gdyby było ogólnodostępne w Polsce byłoby moim ulubionym piwem codziennym.
