jhagmar (72), Gothenburg, Sweden May 10, 2008 Thanks to ekstedt & friends. Clear copper, offwhite head. Metallic aroma, somewhat unpleasant. Taste dominated by bitterness. Dryish mouthfeel. Light carbonation.
bee__R (43), Cantù, Italy Sep 30, 2008 50 cl bottle, unfortunately transparent (as many other beers by this brand) and on the supermarket shelf for XX(??) time. Shining amber beer, with golden reflections. In my "tasting glass" it pours a nice white thick head, that anyway lasts not long. Light fresh sweetness aroma, where malty notes stand out a little bit over erbaceous and citrous fruity notes. The initial sweet flavor comes with a noticeable frizzyness and a bitter and citric finish.
Medium body. Drinkable and better than I expect from a beer in a big supermarket (in Italy...) bigcat03 (191), Lincoln, Nebraska, USA Sep 29, 2008 Drank this from a pint glass on 12/30/07 at The Shaespeare Head Pubin London. A nice amber color with a 1 finer tan head. Hops, hay, grass to the nose. Toasted malt, grass and bitters at first taste. Finishes with more of the same. A nice hand pulled palate. The name of this beer lead me to believe it would be more like a trappist...the whole abbot thing, ya know? It’s just a basic bitter. johndoughty (1660), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Sep 28, 2008 Bottle.Strange aroma upon opening.Clear bottle and slightly bitter.
Nothing really going for it. Many years ago this was one of my favourite beers. Why? Beerman6686 (780), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 27, 2008 Poured a light amber color with an off white head. Aroma was almost non existent, malty and some caramel notes. Flavor was also very subdued. watery, some malts and some grass. SaintMatty (515), Tallinn, Estonia Sep 25, 2008 500ml Bottle - Copper coloured. Dry malty aroma which is a bit sterile but there is a fruity hint. Fruity and malty taste with some light vanilla notes and raisins.
