Cask at the William Webb Ellis (JDW), Twickenham - 09/03/13.
Very lightly hazed chestnut brown with a thin off white head that retains well.
Nose is dark malts, GK yeast, brown sugars, toffee, disappointingly thin for a 6.5% beer!
Taste comprises dark fruit, sugars, raisens, toffee, touch of spice but ultimately it just tastes like a stronger version of most other GK beers - you just can’t escape that yeast strain!
Full end of medium bodied with soft carbonation, smooth on the palate.
Drinkable but largely forgettable for a 6.5% beer - lacks depth and complexity.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 zenkis (245) - Ogre, LATVIA - FEB 2, 2013
Pours amber with yellow-white mid top. Aroma - malty, bready, sweet fruity, but mostly pine. Flavor pleasantly yeasty, matured. Taste - sweetish with huge load of hops bite. A bit watery, dry, bitter finish. Style could be bitter to this one. But I enjoy it anyway. It was just what I seek to - conditioned ale flavor, old ale with kind of strong maturation presence. Will repeat this one, no doubt.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 laiti (3925) - Tampere, FINLAND - JAN 25, 2013
50 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 25.03.2011
Aroma has toffee, some English hops and nuts. Flavour has toffee, some caramel, English hops and hay. Finishes nutty. This is quite exactly what it promises to be: a stronger version of Abbot.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 worldbeertaste (1119) - Lancashire, ENGLAND - JAN 17, 2013
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2013 Bottle - Medium copper with a off-white, creamy somewhat lasting head. Smells of sweet malt, caramel, fruity peach or a perfume, nutty smell and some toasted malt. Medium body with soft carbonation. Tastes of toasted malt, with caramel sweetness. Wood and vanilla but with presence of alcohol Slightly chemical. But nonetheless decent.
