Taste of caramel, dab of roast, toffee, soft twiggy earthy hops, GK yeast, soft fruity caramel, touch of pear drop, very much a stronger version of Abbot, taste improves with the drinking
Palate - Medium body, alcohol fairly noticeable. Finish of twiggy hops, some toasted malts, caramel, dab of alcohol
Overall - Reasonable English strong ale. Cheap here at £1.80/pt

Cask at the Wharf. A clear copper colored beer with some off-white bubbles on top. Dark dried fruits, some toffee and pine cones in the aroma, as well as a hint of fruit caramel. It’s quite dry on the palate, but feeling lightly sweetish. Toffee, dark dried fruits and a decent bitterness. Pine cones too. Alcohol hints. Very soft carbonation. Lasting finish with a nice balance. Pretty nice this one. 150301

Cask at JDW Putney. Reddy brown, still, pretty clear, scummy head, thick lacing. Aroma is non-descript. Body is medium, low carbonation, pretty smooth mouthfeel. Taste is tangy and rummy, big rounded toffee malt character - almost pungent, a little dry and ashy, gluey, resiny. A malt bomb of a beer, just right for the season.
