Cask - The Glass House (JDW), Norwich. Small & creamy, lasting white head atop an amber body. OK fruit, caramel-forward profile. A slight toasty and generic hop bitterness on the tongue with a notable house yeast component. Some empty metallic touches too on the palate. Quite hollow & missing character, particularly on the mid palate.

Cask conditioned handpump Rose & Crown Yardley Hastings. A pleasant citrussy beer with more fruity notes in the nose than the mouth. Never really develops into much of a beer but has pleasant notes and is acceptably drinkable.

Cask @ Counting House, JDW. Clear golden colour, off-white head. Aroma is light malty, a bit non-descript. Flavour is light malted, biscuit, slight hint of vegetables. Soft cookie dough. Slight bitter finish.

Warning old amatur rating: Golden colour. Nice English hop aroma and taste. Some good shapness towards the end.

UPDATED: JUN 24, 2008 Handpulled cask at the Speckled Hen, St. Albans. Gold with creamy white head. Nice fruity, citrussy flavour with a subble hoppy finish. One of GKs better offerings. Score 3.2. RE-RATE: Iíve just tried this beer again at JDW Stanmore. A fresh barrel tasted better with improved hop chacture and conditioning. Went down very well

This summer beer has a nice golden color and a nice head. The aroma is nicely hopped with notes of citrus. the flavour is crisp and has nice, light notes of caramel, fruit and a bit stronger also citrus. Itís an uncomplicated and delicious thirst quencher without any great depths to explore.

Clear dark honey color, steady creamy white head. Dish water and rye in the nose. Sourish flavor (cask not in condition), touch of honey, rye, hops. Unbalanced and one to rerate.

Cask. Dark ambery colour with small head. Aroma is bitter fruits along with slight spicyness and earth. Citrus in the flavour along with lots of perfume, earth and rather soapy hints. Not very nice.

Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo) Amber, slightly murky, maybe not at its best, little head. Bitter aroma, hints towards grapefruit and ginger, but is non-descript and doesnít give a crisp enough feel. Mushy mashy taste. Plenty of something thatís some kind of bitterness, but no details. Later perfumed soap comes through - both the perfume part and the soap part. Sulphates probably, as this is Greene King. Dissappointed.

Cask, Whey Pat Ale Festival, St Andrews. Amber with a thin white head and some bubbles hovering. Nose is sherberty and detergent hops. Mouth much of the same, some funky sherbert and citrus. Some sweetness, but thatís completely detatched from the flavour. Typical of Greede King, boring and dull.
