Cask: Special - Wetherspoon Festival november 2009
This golden ale has been brewed especially for this JDW beer festival. It is rich in flavour, with a malty character, packed full of fruit flavours, followed by a refreshing zest and an underlying spiciness. Hops used: Cascade, Challenger, First Gold, Fuggles

Handpulled cask at JDW Watford. Amber with a thin white head. Stars and stripes logo on pumpclip and mention of cascade in the festival programe suggested that this could be something different from GK. WRONG!!!!

Cask @ JDW Southport. A clean, crisp beer in the ’Golden’ style. I liked the aftertaste, which I’m not sure how to describe. I got hops and some pleasant yeastiness in the mouth. I wasn’t impressed with this beer at the start but it grew on me. Had it not been compeing with some excellent competition @ JDW’s beer festival I may have rated it more highly.

Cask in the new crown, southgate. Alround rating: Green king apply yeast, citrusy, bit of caramel, fairly balanced, lemon seems to be showing. Not bad.

Cask at JDW, Heathrow, Term 4. Golden amber body with slight head. Eggy nose. Eggy and malty flavours. Not very good. Just too watery and uninspired.

A Mes rate. Cask at Baker St ’Sporks.
Clean dark gold with a decent off white head. All downhill from here sadly. bready, fruity, not much happening. Christ on a bike I really can’t be bothered. Had worse but it’s just a masterpiece of mediocrity. Crap.

Cask conditioned handpump Eastgate Northampton A copper coloured beer with a thick white head and lacing. The aroma has a hint of banana together with some yeast. Non-descript yeasty taste with dishwater notes and a little late bitterness. Thin

Cask at Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford, in ’Spoon’s BF ’09. Copper gold with a small white head. Spicy hairoil malt with pepper. Nettly taste, a bit bland. Some bready aftertaste. Slight bitterness.
