A Mes rate. Cask handpull from Baker Street ’Sporks.
Ruby / copper body with a good off white head and plenty of lace. Fruity and chunky all round. Good liquorice and plum notes. Lovely malt and faint licks of malt. Obvious Belgian yeasty character. Drinks light a lighter Gouden Carolus Classic. And for that I like it a lot. A little more complex than most you find at a JDW. Pretty decent all rounder. Nice one. Hang about... GREENE KING??? What the FUNK??? Honestly I liked it.

Cask, Highcross, Leicester. Red brown with a beige head. Aromas are nutty with roast malts and grapefruit. Flavours are weetabix malts with some chocolate and berry notes. Mostly dry and hoppy with a light herbal, bitter pithy finish. Decent.

Cask conditioned handpump Rupert Brooke Rugby An amber coloured beer with a white head. The aroma has fruity and biscuity notes. Some reasonable fruits and bready malts in the mouth but spoilt late on by that dishwatery yeasty GK house flavour.

Cask at Bankers Draft, Bedford (JDW) in ’Spoons Real Ale Festival, April ’09. Dark amber with a small white head. Faint sweet aroma, slightly fruity with suggestions of apple and peach. Taste has painty fruit sourness and some background malt. Lingering nettly bitter finish. I thought it was quite good.

Half pint, cask ale at The Flying Horse, Gatwick Airport. Golden-copper. Dry fruity to the nose. The taste profile contains lots of fresh fruits with noble malts in the background. Smooth bitter finish. Easy to drink. Moreish summer beer (05.05.2009).

Cask at the Samuel Peto (JDW), Folkestone. Port red in colour with a thin off-white head; lots of red fruit aroma; a little fruit flavour to start then dry caramel, biscuit and coffee takes over leading to a dry finish.

Cask and handpump at William Morris in Hammersmith, red-brown with a fine white head. Aroma of oranges, apple esters and red fruit, slight hint of sourness, taste has more red fruit plus a little toffee. Malty hoppy finish. Good effort from Westgate.

[Gravity cask at Back of Beyond, Reading] Brown. Weird smell and initial taste - almond/marzipan mixed with plant food! Mellows into what is really qutie a pleasant beer, with toffee flavours dominating over a rich, fruity finish. Hmmm... mixed feelings on this one. c8

Cask at the alfread herring. Alround rating: Grainy toffee malts, fruity berry character, dry grassy bittering hop. No idea why they made this dark, it doesnt seem to have suited it well.
