cask cambridge UK: well i wasnt as blown away as i thought i would be by this beer, they have been bitten by the bug of trying to mass produce and buy out the little guys and forget about the quality. never had this in a nitro can, but in cask head disipated quickly and gave very little body in the mouth light tan-brown and not that bitter. you can definately find a better bitter in the UK.

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2004 Re-rate: hand pulled at the Hoghsead, Birmingham. Crap, awful experience. No flavour, nothing at all twixt swig and swallow. Dismal. [1.6] Bottle from Metro Wines, Syston, Leicester. An IPA that has a noticeably lower ABV of 3.6. Very balanced flavour, with no real aftertaste, but a very malty, clean mouthfeel. This has a darker colour than previous IPA's, with little head.

Amber in colour. Aroma of slight hops, fruit and some sweetness. Light body, slightly sweet faint hops and nuts. Finishes with a mild bitterness.

Cask Conditioned: The Clarence, London. Poured and amber color with a thin head. Light lacing. Light hop and malt flavor. Not much else to speak of.

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2010 Some people don’t rate this brew, but I find it a reliable session beer, easy to drink with an assertive bitterness throughout, but little hop aroma. Uses First Gold hops. Refreshing when on good form. However, not always kept in the peak of condition. Needless to say, in the Greene King Brewery Tap (Handpump, May 2003) it was impeccably kept. As long as you appreciate that this is not an IPA in any traditional terms (very few British cask beers are), this is OK for downing a few pints.

Sampled cask conditioned at Stockholm Beer Festival. Dark amber coulour. Thin and dry in aroma and flavour. I had hopes for more.

Beer Engine: burnt orange amber with a thick cloud-like head. Airy hop cone aroma, leave and chlorophyll. Loads of pear and apple flesh. Palate is a bitter but has some sweet nectar and flowers. A bit one dimensional, but all around good flavours, but not much depth. Some dry hop cones linger, nice.

A thin little cask ale with not enough hops or body to suit my fancy. Dissapointing beer for the first English cask ale I had in England.
