COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask, Special;
This new beer has been brewed exclusively for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. A far stronger version of Greene King’s popular IPA, this uses English hop varieties to produce a full, hoppy character, evident from the aroma, through the flavour and into the finish, balanced by subtle flavours from pale and crystal malts.

Fin kobberfarge med et hvit skum. Maltete aroma med et lite innslag av karamell, frukt og sitrus. Smaken er noe bedre, litt mer tydlig frukt (fersken) og sitrus.

This isn’t bad, but nothing I would recommend. Taste and aroma are okay for the style. [short review due to it coming from my backlog]

Tror jag betygsatt förr men för säkerhets skull! Bra brittisk ipa, lagom humör lagom beska, bränd lite toffeton. Vackert bärnstensfärgad, aningen pikant. Bra brittisk standard 3

Clearly a strong ale, but not necessarily any better than Greene King’s regular IPA.

Brewed exclusively for the 2011 Wetherspoon Spring beer festival, according to the blurb in the tasting notes: which is when I took these notes. Challenger and First Gold hops give this beer a great hoppy aroma and taste. The clear amber body and thin white head look good and the dry aftertaste and bitterness given by the aforementioned hop content produce a very fine beer indeed. I am not a huge fan of this brewery in general, but this and some other beers they brew are in fact very good.

Nice spicy aroma and flavor of hops and malt. The caramel tone in the malt is vague, which I like, and hop aromas appears well in the taste. Tasty and easy to drink!

Cask at pub in London. A pretty decent beer. Nice dark golden colour, and a good head.

Cask Handpump at the Penny Black JDW, Northwich 08/04/2011 Floral malt aroma. White head. Bronze coloured and smooth on the palate with some alcohol present. Bitter malty and slightly peppery flavoured in the finish.

JDW Fest. Clear amber beer, bubbly white head. So can Greene King brew something resembling a proper IPA? Semi dry palate. Fresh malt. Detectable hops - mild citrus and a whisper of peach. Dry finish. Much better than it’s little brother but nothing to excited about.

sm89walt (1780) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - APR 16, 2011
Cask - The Bell Hotel (JDW), Norwich. Clear ruby body & a small though lasting beige head leaving some lacework. Light & sweet perfumey fruits and yeast on the nose. Biscuity, some caramel, yeast & a subtle bitterness. Soft medium-ish body, short finish leaving a stale fruit tang. Unremarkable & nothing standout to indicate its ABV.
