Indulgence (141), Ajo, Arizona, USA Jul 9, 2008 IPA Export: It is definately different than an American IPA, couldn’t say if it’s close to the original IPAs of those times, but this beer was pleasant and went down pretty fast, nice aromas of caramel, bread, and butterscotch from the malts and yeast and back up by a mild floral hop aroma... all around a nice beer that allows you to get a take on a non-American IPA. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Jul 9, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma with some hoppy hints. Sweet malty caramel flavor with some weak hints of hops. Has a long malty caramel finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste. mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 5, 2008 Pours a clear copper with nearly no head. Faint malty aroma. Glad it’s considered a bitter on RateBeer, as it’s certainly not an IPA. Tastes very malty, some diacetyl, light bitterness. Thin, reasonable carb. Pleasant but unremarkable. Maltybones (60), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jul 5, 2008 Clear bootle. Pours a very clear amber colour, with a thick and fairly long lasting head and lots of carbonation. Lots of floral hops in the aroma with apple and pear notes. It’s so bready and sweet it’s like drinking cookies (surprisingly, not bad in an IPA). Hops follow through in the finish, building to be quite substantial. Medium bodied and a little resiny. Underrated. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 30, 2008 500 ml fresh bottle. Yellowish with a decent white bubble head that leaves lace lines. A little below average aroma, a little cheesy it is. Medium mouthfeel cushioned by foamy malt. A decent bitterness, understated but increasing in intensity as it gradually overcomes the palate. DerWeg (750), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 29, 2008 Curiously orangey-caramel color looks nice in clear glass bottle from LCBO. Pours with small head, carbonation is a little spiky. Taste begins rather ordinary then gets slightly interesting, I mean this is acceptable but SO many fucking beers have this carefully bitter hop middle rounded out with cautiously applied pale malts. Almost euro-lager aroma, this beer is likewise refreshing and forgettable. DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Jun 28, 2008 Aroma has a decent malt, some fresh leafy hops, copper, pours a firm, long lasting cream coloured finger of head. Taste is milder malt than the nose suggested, slight metal taste, probably due to the water, has a tea-like after taste, some woody notes. Light bodied, well balanced, pleasantly bitter, which to me is odd for a bitter, very easy to drink. A good session beer. MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Jun 28, 2008 LCBO bottle purchase- This IPA poured a deep amber and was topped with a frothy and long lived white foam. Good lace and nice retention. The aromas were bready and malty with caramel and some spice and floral hops. Tasted of semi-sweet caramel and bread crust, some toasty malts, with a floral hop bite that was quite welcome, and finished with spices and sweet doughy, bready notes. This beer wanted to be creamy, but the carbonation was just a bit too aggressive to be so. A decent IPA/Bitter to drink on a daily basis.
