Can’t miss having a pop at this while we’re here. Everyone knows the story. A standard session brew given an award by the indepeant organisation that Green King gives money to. Its dull. Its dishwater. Its a scandle.

Bottle at a friends house. Light malty smell and taste. Very light flowery aroma. A bit artificial.

Bottle @ friends place in Brighton, summer 2011.
App: Clear chestnut with a short porous dissipating head.
Aroma: Toffee/butterscotch and some faint notes of dried apricots, oranges and grassy herbal hops. Some "sink water" also.
Taste: Butterscotch and some orangepeel and apricots. Dry malty with some bitter herbs in the finish.
Palate: Medium to light body, soft carbonation.
Overall: Move along.

Bottle. Rich rusty brown. Thin cream head. Smells coppery and woody with some wheats. Smooth in the mouth, but the taste is a bit "blegh". Copper in the mouth, - dirty pennies soaked in wheatabix water. Needs more bitter hoppiness to really appeal to me as an IPA. And as a bitter, its just a little too unpleasant.

Can, 500 ml. Drunk from said can. I remember this pouring a generic amber colour with a fair amount of creamy white head. Aroma of honey, with perhaps a small amount of resinous hop presence in there, but very minimal for something calling itself an IPA. Tastes quite weak and watery, again the main presence being honey, with a little bit of hoppy bitterness on the back end. Very watery mouth feel with minimal carbonation. Quite bland overall but probably one of the better budget beers available, and for a while in my early years of drinking this was my go-to alternative to lager (still is on occasion, usually when there’s nothing better on tap).

Bottle. Pours copper with an off white head which fades to a ring. Aroma of grassy hops. Taste of grassy hops, malt, slight roasted. Medium body, medium carbonation.

Amber pour, grassy malt aroma. Taste is earthy, malty and slightly tangy, light bitter notes on the finish. Easily drinkable, but nothing special

Red, copper. Big foamy head. Smells like a pilsner. Watery body. Mild hops and bitterness. Some caremel and cooked vegetables and metal. Tastes a bit odd. This isn’t good but not horribly bad either. More like a bitter than an IPA.

Philym (917) - St Neots, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - APR 5, 2014
Appearance: CleR amber/copper with finger thick ivory head. Aroma: Biscuit, bread, grassy, herb, peppery, light caramel and orchard fruit. Taste: Medium bitter, low/medium sour, low sweetness and a slight saltiness. Palate: Thin grainy texture, light body, average carbonation, abrupt biscuit, peppery, bitter finish with a gentle sourness. Comments: Ok and glass lace.

This is usually pretty cheep to buy in tins and is a surprisingly drinkable and alright weak bitter. It has enough bitterness of taste to make it worth getting through. Nothing to get excited about but it’s ok!

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2014 Nice clear amber with off-white big frothy head. Not that ipaish aroma has lots woody malt, caramel, earthy. Nice malty flavor but can’t say I think it is ipa, more bitterish, medium body, quite soft, medium long malty finish. Well this is just barely ok. Not good as ipa.
