COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Greene King IPA Gold is a light, refreshing golden ale that truly brings out the best in the unique and aromatic Savinsjki Goldings hop variety. The craftsmanship in this beer lies in the late hopping which creates a perfect blend of tropical fruits, mango and spicy notes and delivers a beer with a clean bitter taste and a crisp dry finish.

There are lots of very good arguments about why beer shouldn’t be packaged in clear glass bottles, normally I agree with them in general but in IPA Gold’s case that would have meant missing out on it’s beautiful golden colour. Unfortunately the colour is the best thing about this ale. The aroma is typical of Greene King and always reminds me slightly of stale cigarette smoke. The beer is not quite insipid, but definitely watery and lacking in flavour and despite pouring a good initial head it rapidly falls. All-in-all rather disappointing.

Plain as simply. Does what it says on the tin (bottle). Crisp and light. Nothing special.

Golden colour, bubbly white head with moderate lacing. Aroma of herbs, citrus, dust. Light body. thin texture. Average carbonation. Bittersweet taste with herbal & citric profile. Thin watry finish. Lots of hops in the aftertaste. The Greene King has got many better beers to offer.

500ml clear bottle, present. Sweet orange grain flavour. Bitter sweet aftertaste. Fairly standard supermarket beer with a bit more but not necessarily better flavour.

Bottle shared with McTapps. Simple one with some similar aromas as a simple Becks Gold. Feels a bit filtered and tobacco-minded in its aroma which I do not appreciate. After getting some temperature it develops some honey, bit malt and hops. Not that bad though.

Bottle bought at Morrisons in Newport. Pours out in a clear light golden colour with low head and medium body. Aroma of mild hops and grass. Taste of mild hops, mild flowers, light grass, straw, oranges and herbs. Thin and unexciting finish. Drinkable, yet nothing special.

0,5L bottle. Pours clear golden. Aroma is sweet, malt, british hops, and some diacetyl. Flavor is sweet, malt, citrus. Body is watery. Overall: feels like watery Greene King IPA.

Pours a clear yellow gold with a thin white head. Hint of a grassy hop aroma. Upfront and lasting bitterness but a bit more like sparkling water... Bit of sweetness in the middle.

Shared by martjoobolut, thanks! Golden clear yellow, white head. Nose is fruity, hops, citric notes, hops. Flavor is fruit, sweet malt and hops in the finish. Pointless.
