COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask.
This warming, full bodied ale has a reassuringly rich appearance and a mellow fruit aroma. Grapefruit and orange citrus tones combine with the floral and herbal Styrian Goldings hop variety deliver a reserve ale of exceptional quality with a dry, bitter finish. Greene King IPA Reserve is distinguished by a higher alcohol level, and this premium-strength ale feels and tastes more powerful, robust and warming. Very popular with ale connoisseurs, this darker ale matches beautifully with richer foods such as casseroles and red meats.

Cask at Great British Beer Festival. Rusty deep ale with a nice bubbly white top. Honey and orange marmalade style nose. Tastes nice and smooth with the same marmalade notes but not quite hoppy enough for my personal tastes. Finishes sweet.

Pint on draught. Light copper with a good head. Aroma of yeast and malt. Flavours of toasted malt, biscuit, a little caramel and mild berry fruits. Moderate bitter finish. Quite rich and perhaps a touch cloying. Nice enough, but not a good session beer.

Cask at The Wharf, Aalborg, Denmark
Golden color with small head. The aroma is mild, with some malt and some grassy hops; light manure and apples. Very flat texture, almost oily; good malt/toffee flavor, lightly crispy and biscuity; the bitterness is too strong, and it gives a metallic feeling; mild grassy finish.
Initially appreciated, it turns out difficult to drink (a pint).

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol, November 2012. Reddish amber with a slight, off-white head. Rich, rounded caramel notes, red berries, tropical fruit wine gums and a decent, bitter finish. Good.

Penderels Oak, Holborn 1 Nov 12. JDW Festivaløl. Dyp brun. Lavt, litt farget skum. OK fruktaroma. Smaken er søt, tung frukt. Litt kjedelig.

A nice beer much more pleasant than the standard Greene King IPA. Nice bitter twang.

Poured from cask into a nice little one-third pint glass at JDWs Penderels Oak. Off-white, fine laced head. Next to clear amber-red in body appearance. Mild dusty hops mixed with grainy malts to the nose. Dark grapefruits, some herbs and semi-sweet malts in the flavour profile. Smooth dry bitter finish. Well bodied. Half way pleasing (London, 01.11.2012).

Cask conditioned handpump Four Candles Oxford 02/11/12. A nut brown coloured beer with a white head and lace. Noticeable Greene King house yeast, with sweet caramel notes and noticeable alcohol. Reasonable.
