Cask (gravity dispense) at Ealing Beer Festival, July 2009. I was only driven to rate this by the paucity of new beers on offer. Honest. Actually, it’s not that bad. Amber/copper colour. Reasonable balance of biscuity malt and earthy hops. Just a straightforward bitter. A rather dull one to be sure but largely inoffensive.

Didn’t I just rate this already? Bottle from Arden Wines. Clear copper with a fleeting beige collar. Werthers aroma with pear, apple, fudge, and vegetables. Bog standard clear bottled GK effort; tired and cooked with cardboard and almond, some consolatory apple strudel fruitiness, doughy yeast and biscuit remaining...whatever. Would smack a few bottles of this for six given the chance, BrewDog-style.

Quite an attractive reddish amber with a small white head. Burnt, sugary malt aroma. So far so good, but the taste lets it down: it’s crude, oily, fizzy and metallic with that nasty artificial sweetener bitterness. Only bought this because I’m a cricket fan.

Cask conditioned at The Turf Tavern, Oxford. Brown with faint white head. As miserable as the days cricket unfortunately. The GK taste, cold tea, caramel, souriish apple, a chap on our table reckoned it had been through 2 other peoples bladder before it got to us. Poor.

Cask at The Eagle, Cambridge.
Little scent but some hop in there. Smooth. Slightly carbonated. Some hop at the start then some malt at the back but very underwhelming.

Bottle. Clear bottle and continuing this breweries sporting theme. Some hops are present and there is a gentle bitterness.Still par for the course-bland and not very distinctive.

A Mes rate: gravicask at Ealing Beer Festival.
Amber with a thin white film. Actually it’s remarkably tolerable. Some GK caramel but not overlyfull of apple as you would expect. Some fairly decent earthy malt in the background. Lots of sugary sweetness and oh yeah, there’s the apple in the finish. GK but a little better... but still shite.

Cask at the White House, Bladon, nr Woodstock, Oxon, 06-07-09 Pours mid brown in colour, fruity nose. Taste is malty and fruity and not that hoppy, its ok. A6 A3 F5 P3 Ov11 2.8

Cask Handpump at the Flower Pot, Derby 22/11/2006
Very fruity aroma. Copper coloured slightly rich on the palate and very fruity. A little thin and sour. Crisp and bitter lasting malt finish.

Cask conditioned @ Hyde Tavern, Winchester. An unusually shaped cricket pad pumpclip with annoyingly small type on it. Brown in colour. Malty fruits with hints of toffee and light earthy hops in the finish. In good condition and quite drinkable for GK.
