COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular.
St Edmunds is a new golden beer and the first of its kind in the UK. A revolutionary take on a traditional dispense, the unique beer engine allows drinkers to choose how their cask pint of St Edmunds is served. Reflecting regional tastes, drinkers can opt for a ‘northern head’ – tight and creamy or a ‘southern head’ – a crowning glory of loose bubbles.
Recently voted Beer of the Month by renowned beer writer Roger Protz, St Edmunds is crisp and fresh with zesty, citrus notes. Offering drinkers a choice of styles, St Edmunds still provides the great flavour of a quality cask beer. Specially brewed to be served between 6-8 degrees - cooler than traditional cask beers – it delivers the refreshment of colder drinks while retaining all the depth of character, taste and aroma of real ale.

Some light skunkiness to the aroma amid some earthy barnyard notes. Again the same in the mouth with a good dryness in the finish. Slick and oiled.

Cask conditioned? at The Greyhound, Brackley, Northants. Amber to gold with white head. Cold, had to wait for it to warm, then got the GK Tea leaf flavour, acrid, sharp. Not that pleasant.

Cask @ Henglers Circus, JDW. Clear golden colour, white head. Nose is light malted and a bit of citrus. Flavour is soft malty, bit of citrus, cookie dough upfront. A bit of lemonade. Slightly bitter finish. As far as Greene King beers go, its pretty decent.

On cask at Fishermans Tavern, Broughty Ferry. Another pleasant surprise from one of the bigger breweries. A golden ale with hints of caramel and well hopped. A good balanced ale.

Cask at a JDW. A hazy amber beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of citrus fruits and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, elderflowers, and hops, leading to a dry finish.

DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - JUN 21, 2011
UPDATED: JUN 24, 2011 Cask at The Sad Hog Tavern. Lager gold with a ringing Gillette top. Vague rub of tangerine and floweriness aroma. Some attempts at hop flavour; watery, gingery citrus petering into Rich Tea and cashew. Clean and mealy. Dab of minerality, becoming sour towards the bottom of a pint. Might be a decent beer if it had any hops in it.
