Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Marketed in the United States as Olde Suffolk.
A blend of two ales: Old 5X , which is brewed to the maximum strength possible (around 12% abv) and left to mature in 100-barrel oak vats for a minimum of two years, and BPA, a dark, full-bodied freshly brewed beer which is added just before bottling. The result is a unique beer - strong (6% abv), dark, fruity, oaky and very, very special.

This dark brown ale poured with a nice beige head. There is a nice caramel malt flavor that enhanced with mellow oak undertones and a tasty toffee finish.

50 cl bottle at Pitcher’s Pub, Karlstad, Sweden. Dark colour. Great beer with a nice oak character. Very good with aroma of vanilla and fruit. The flavor is great with vanilla, toffee, some oak character, fruit and caramel. This was a really good one, I’m glad I tried it.

Simplesmente a melhor cerveja que eu já tomei. Encorpada e saborosa. Tem uma espuma densa e persistente. Essa Old Ale é surpreendente, possui claramente notas de carvalho. Recomendada para apreciadores de um bom vinho.

500ml bottle at the White Horse, Parson’s Green, 18th Jan 08. Pours a very dark brown with no much of head. Slight aroma of molasses and stilton cheese. Taste is like a porter with coffee notes at first, then more of a diary flavour but with an underlying sour tang. Pretty rich and full body. Alcohol can be felt too. Good stuff.

Aged in an oak barrel. Smells like good ole Tennessee whiskey. Dark black, low carbonation. Alcohol bites through. Really warms up a cold winter night.

one of my favorite beers of all time. its hard for me to find but when i can i ’ll buy a whole case. the malt is heavy and rich. the color is a dark brown, its one of the smoothest beers i have ever had. can definitely taste some caramel as well. the only thing missing is longer lasting head but oh well. still awesome.

really? caramel color added? sheesh. no oak on the nose, but there is some pleasant cherry sour ale essence there. dark red/brown but they’re cheating. malt is heavy and rich, then disappears. overrated.
