Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Marketed in the United States as Olde Suffolk.
A blend of two ales: Old 5X , which is brewed to the maximum strength possible (around 12% abv) and left to mature in 100-barrel oak vats for a minimum of two years, and BPA, a dark, full-bodied freshly brewed beer which is added just before bottling. The result is a unique beer - strong (6% abv), dark, fruity, oaky and very, very special.

Bottle. Big head. Nice garnet highlights. Has the slight fruity smell you would expect from an English Ale. The taste has complexity and the hints of carmel entice you.

Bottle. Dark brown clear colour with a bubbly light brown small head. Aroma of roasted malts and some wood, bit grainy and some fruitiness. The maltiness and the wood from the aroma is indeed in the flavour along with some sweet caramel, and nice bitter hops. Dry aftertaste with a little alcohol. Goes great with cheese!

Bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting amber head. Aromas of plum, raisin, molasses and hints of carmel and toffee. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, toffee, brown sugar, light fruitiness and hints of oak and vanilla with a crisp bittersweet finish.

Hmmm a very interesting beer. poured to a frothy head. Appearance was very dark red. Mouthfeel is smooth but a little bitter. Flavor is incredibly malty. An alright beer but probably would not purchase again at the price.

thank’s to my old dad! He got this as a present two years ago and has been saving it. Pours a rich and almost thick, dark copper/brown color with a creamy offwhite head. Very oaky, malty and vinegar-like taste. Completely dry.

This beer poured a pretty dark amber color, and with a short-lived head. The aroma is of English noble hops, with oak and a nice floral accent coming through. The taste is somewhat complex, with oak and floral hops and a bready malt combining to delight the taste buds. I think I will have another.
