| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 20, 2007 500ml bottle - pours out a beautiful deep ruby shade with an ample two-finger off-white head on top, a little bit frothy. Looks excellent. Aroma is slighty oaky, with the vanila notes that such aging tends to impart, and with dark fruit and caramel as well amongst the English malts. Flavour is very smooth and the body is sort of thin, but nice. Taste is much the same as the aroma, with vanilla, caramel and cherries on slightly great display, with a touch of bitterness in the finish. A good beer, but didn’t really strike me as being so much better than many other traditional English ales. cewldre (268), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 19, 2007 Bottle: Of course, this was the state side version, so it was Olde Suffolk English Ale. Pours a nice dark brown with a fairly small amount of brown head. There is plenty of bubbling on the side which leaves me to believe it has a good amount of carbonation. I notice a pretty nice dark fruit smell, maybe some raisin and possibly some caramel smells in there as well. The taste is pretty smooth, with some nice fruity flavors, a hint of caramel. As I continue to eat, I do notice a bit of that oak flavor coming through. Overall, a little watery on the taste, but a pretty decent beer none the less. Thanks to Matt for this one. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 17, 2007 鸴ml bottle) Pours nearly headless with a deep plum body. Nose is faint - malt and perhaps barbecue sauce? This beer is thin. The flavour is weak. I’m not getting the scores or aromas like many others. Moz (613), Gothenburg, Sweden
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 9, 2007 Bottle. Beautiful dark ruby colour, with a medium tan head. Flavour of fruits, maybe cherry, caramel and a strange smell of raw meat. Almost a Belgian feel when tasting the beer with a spicy tone. DJC (238), USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 8, 2007 Deep brown body, with a tan head that disappeared very quickly. The aroma lets you know this beer was aged in oak. The flavor profile consists of caramel malts, toffee, and dried fruits. The aftertaste is of a weak instant coffee or dark chocolate. Somewhat watery on the palate, but the carbonation is pretty good. Not bad overall, but I don’t feel it’s as good as the average score indicates. elektronikfagtekniker (892), kbh, Denmark
