Moderate malt notes of roasted and nutty, light hops and yeast notes of herbs and earth, with hints of toffee, brown sugar and cola. Head is average size, frothy, light brown with no lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear dark brown. Flavor is lightly sweet and moderately acidic to start, and finishes lightly bittersweet and acidic. Palate is medium, watery with a touch of creaminess and has a lively carbonation. A very easy drinking Old Ale, but why the added caramel color? Bier brauen (213), Bremerton, Washington, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 7, 2008 Bottle (500ml). Poured dark burnt copper with a decent sized, dense, frothy, lightly tanned head which lasted very well. Aroma was of honey coated cereal with banana’s, chocolate, buttery caramel, vanilla oak and a subtle fruitiness of tangerines. Flavor was a mild, earthy hop bitterness with rich toffee, roasted hazelnuts, chocolate, caramelized dates, sultana’s, dried pineapple and a woody finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, a dry mouthfeel, chewy texture and a good finish. cluny6 (115), Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England
