Decently large beige head over dark brown (there could be purple here... or maybe not :)
). Nose is VERY sweet w/ rasins. The taste is equally sweet, all malts, that equal up to honey and more dark fruits. Theres even a little alcohol here. Good, just too sweet for me.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
0.5l bottle poured in a chalice.
Great beer! Classic English Ale.
A: Beautiful deep amber color with a thin beige head which dissipates quickly leaving very few lacings
S: Caramel malts (and some notes of roasted malts), toffee, dark fruits (plums and grapes, mainly), wood, brown bread, yeasts, flowery hops and a bit of alcohol in the end. Sophisticated
T: Delicious. Complex as the nose. A little bit sweet. Caramel malts and dark fruits in the beginning. Woody (reminds red wine). Very well balanced bitterness (the taste of fresh hops is impressive)
M: Medium body. Low to medium carbonation which reminds a traditional English Bitter. Delicious bitterness
D: High. Very mild and smooth Beer. A winner, no doubt!

Soft, creamy, wood, nuts and pear to plum fruit with lots of subtlety. This is very nice. If I had one hope with this beer, it would be a longer finish with spicyness, smoke or tobacco. Very vinous in texture -- some flavors as well. Much better at 55+ F degrees than colder.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330ml bottle from Tesco. As the name suggests this beer is dark deep amber colour with a thin off white head. Aroma has sweet stewed fruit, the taste also has this, but had a alcohol warmth, that suggests more than the 6% abv. The bottle says blended with a proportion of 5X, just not sure what the proportion would be, low I guess.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle purchased from Tesco, Irvine on the 4th September 2014. Chalice glass. Pours a crystal clear dark ruby in colour with a thin white head. Strong malty aroma with creamy notes of date fruit evident in the long nose. Silky smooth mouthfeel and poor lacing throughout. Dark complex malts deliver a moist, maltloaf base with strong vinous overtones of sweet raisins and fresh figs. There is a slight hint of earthy hop resins present in the short lived aftertaste. Finish is very malty and robust with smooth boozy warmth coming through. Strong vinous fruit notes with syrupy prunes evident. This is a great example of an Old Ale, just wish there were more varieties of this ilk out there!
