cking (727), North Canton, Ohio, USA May 10, 2007 Rated 1/16/06: I debated for some time in the store if I should purchase a bottle of this or not. I’m glad that I decided to! Pours a dark red almost purple with a decent head and good lacing. I let the beer warm up in the glass for a bit, the aroma is very fragrant. Feels smooth going down and finishes even smoother. Very drinkable indeed, and the flavor is nothing short of spectacular. The blend of two ales must be the key with this one cause there is a fresh hoppy taste followed directly by a strong smooth burst. Almost finishes like a whiskey or a dry wine, I can’t quite put my finger on it but it works well. This beer is a bit pricey for my liking but it worth every penny to enjoy once in a while.

BB July 08. Dark ruby color with a big beige head. Aroma has lots of malt, some portwine notes, caramel and dark fruits and a bit of alcohol. A sweet malty flavor with brown sugar, some caramel, slightly spicy fruitiness, wood notes and an alcoholic edge. Finishes drier with light acidic roastiness. Medium-bodied. A decent beer, just doesn’t do it for me and I can’t really find any great aspect to this beer. Still quite drinkable. zebracakes (981), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 31, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark ruby brow, thin off white head. Aroma is malty, spicy, honey, and dough. Flavor is the same and tastes like honey wheat pretzels. On the sweeter side. This would probably taste great from a cask at room temperature. doublebock (156), USA Aug 28, 2008 Deep auburn color with little head. Immediate aroma of bourbon. Fruity grapelike flavor with subtle but well blended bourbon oakiness. Not detecting much hopiness Imperial-John (91), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Aug 27, 2008 500ml bottle. Dark brown with thin beige head. Boozy, malty, woody, belgian aroma. Reminds me of the dopplebocks. Very malty and dry, sweet yet sour after-taste, nice carbonation. Body is more of an 8% alc than 6%. Must be an English thing as the same can be said for the Fullers Vintage.
