A 6% abv dark ale is created using a traditional brewing method of making two beers of different character and strength, which are then blended together. The beer takes its name from the racing term ’Springer’, a racehorse whose odds dramatically shorten before the race.

A dark reddish brown coloured beer with a weak off white head. A light caramel malt aroma, dusty and biscuity, hints of ripe berry fruit and some woody spice. Dry mouthfeel. The taste starts off with a mild bitterness, grassy hop and pithy citrus fruit. This is soon over taken by the malt, dry to start, biscuity and dusty, then a smoother sweet malt element comes through, ripe berry fruit, caramel and a hint of woody vanilla spice. The finish is dry to start with then the sweetness comes through. Bottle from Tescos, King’s Lynn.

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2014 Deep brown, moderate head with good lacing. The aroma is dominated by caramel with notes of dry fruit. Medium to full body. Medium sweet taste with some bitterness. A good beer of no complexity in my opinion.

Bottle. Clear reddish-brown, no head. Strongish but not overbearing with a sugar driven sweetness in both aroma and taste.

Dobre choc kosztowalem lepsze Old Ale niz to. Ladna etykieta i subtelny smak wisni sliwek w czekoladzie. Zapach podobny do sherry, troche przypominalo nawet Amaretto. W smaku wyrazna slodkosc owocow lesnych i bardzo dojrzalych wisni. Po przelknieciu lekko kwaskowato wytrawne ale nadal nuty slodowe graja glowna role. Chmielone umiarkowanie. Kolor Ciemno brazowy z bordowymi refleksami. Piana dobrej jakosci, trwala i oblepiajaca szklo.

Barwa: ciemno miedziana, klarowna. Piana kremowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, obfita, utrzymująca się i ładnie oblepiająca szkło. Wysycenie niskie. Aromat: kwiatowo - owocowy (jabłko, wiśnie?), alkoholowy, z nutami karmelu i ciemniejszych słodów. Smak: słodowy, słodki z akcentami karmelu i owoców, nieco przypominający cydr.

Aroma: dark malts, caramel, dried fruits, cherry notes. Appearance: nice dark amber color, nice lasting head. Taste: nice herb bitterness, dark roasted malts, red fruits, light alcohol, chocolate, nice balanced. Palate: full body and medium carbonation, nice short bitter finish. Overall: nice complex taste, well-balanced, enjoyable.

Appearance: Clear ruby with a loose 2 finger thick ivory/tan head. Aroma: Toffee, fruit cake, dried fig, butterscotch, chocolate malt, waft of banana and vanilla. Taste: Medium sweetness, low/medium bitterness and sourness. Palate: Smooth thick texture, light/medium body, average carbonation, astringent sweet fruity, caramel/toffee like finish with a slight burnt note. Comments: Lovely and glass lace.

Clear, brown colour with moderate and totally diminishing head. Light aroma of caramel. Taste is sweet, caramel with some dried dark fruits and chocolate. Finish is sweet with minimal bitterness and pinch of vanilla. Medium body. Proper carbonation. Tasty ale, but worse than Suffolk Strong.
