COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our second Project Hoppiness selection adds a Belgian twist to an American favorite. It will be brewed with a blend of North American pilsner, wheat, and Caramel Vienna malts. The hop mix is from both sides of the Atlantic – Magnum, Golding, and Glacier. The floral qualities of these varieties meld with the distinctive spicy notes of a classic Belgian Abbey yeast strain, adding a complexity not often seen in your standard IPA.

Cask at Get Real NY 2011. Pale golden pour. The aroma is spicy and lightly fruity. A little bit of lemon and citrusy character over a bright Belgian yeast spiciness. Assertive bitterness and a nice integration of spicy hops and fruity/spicy yeast. Lingering earthiness and a little bit of tropical flavour. Pretty nice stuff.

Growler filled at Big Z and consumed the next day. Pours a hazy light amber with a thin-moderate linen white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. The aroma is decidedly herbal, not unlike the Ahtamatic IPA actually, with some equally strong spicy notes coming from the Belgian yeast. The flavor is more influenced by the variety of Belgian yeast they used which contributes a spiciness not unlike a rye ale. Malt and herbal hops are also present in the flavor. Moderate bitterness at the finish. Medium bodied.

Pouring at Get Real NY. Dry hopped with Tettanger. Hoppy toast and citrus on the nose. Fuzzy bitter toast notes. Malt, and hop bitterness, but still sweet. Long lingering toast bitterness.

A lightly veiled amber IPA with a thin off white head. In aroma, a rather European hop profile over smooth malts. In mouth, a nice herbaceous hops invading the moth, grassy, crisp, smooth and well done. Dry hopped with Tettnanger for Get Real NY. Cask at Get Real NY, March 19 2011.
